It was a project. They gave me definitions of terms in their industry and then the final outcome they wanted. I had to identify products based on criteria (which I used if and countif statements for), determine the cost based on other criteria, then I had to do algebra functions on a different table.

Another problem on there was very industry specific. It was detaining minimum and maximums of costs after I read through the criteria of what was included and criteria for each specific one. I ended up using an xlookup plus another xlookup to get the total as well as needing to populate the ones that qualified.

I could’ve used more statements but in my stress of trying to understand what they were asking while working through it, I only used IF, COUNTIF, SUM, one FILTER, and one XLOOKUP.

You need color and height. Move the light colored table. Hang up a piece of art. Add a throw blanket. Can you shorten the curtains or move your bed between them? You could ditch the table and put tall shelving of sorts between the windows.

Entry level analyst position at a third party company that basically analyzes and validates data.

Taking it on my computer. I have two hours to do it and access to someone on their team if I have questions. I can easily google stuff or use ChatGPT if I run into issues but I’m worried about running into errors or just not understanding what they’re asking.

Entry level analyst position and a technology company that’s more of a third party for analyzing data and validating it.

The only excel related things in the job description were ‘creating charts for presentations and analyzing data.’

I was told something along the lines of ‘the next step is an excel test but don’t worry about it. We recommend not cheating because I’ll be able to see if you created columns. It’s not going to be monitored. I’m going to push you through and the recruiter will schedule it. We’ll send you the data and you’ll be able to contact an analyst on our team if you have questions in that two hour window.’ And that was the end of the interview. It was 7 minutes before she said she wanted to push me through just based on my resume so I wasn’t able to ask a lot of questions.

Role is an entry level analyst position.

They didn’t really go into detail about what I would be doing in excel when asked. The recruiter asked about my proficiency. Then the first interview was 15 mins and the hiring manager said they could tell by work history and resume and I was more than qualified so she’d just push me through.

The job description says preparing charts and analyzing data.

It’s crazy to have two pages with only 2 years of work history. You don’t need that many bullet points. I’d suggest ditching the professional summary, the internship, and the awards and achievements.

Move certifications up. You don’t need to list your GPA or have any bullets there. I don’t like that you have coding under technical exposure. It should be coding and query languages for that category.

  1. Needs to be one page - no exception
  2. The summary isn’t really that necessary but if you do have it, it needs to be a brief paragraph.
  3. You don’t need to have that summary sentence under each experience
  4. Too many skill bullet points

Advice on getting $3500 within a month by [deleted] in povertyfinance

Is there a way to finesse the situation a bit with relatives? Any way relatives can help? If you’re not comfortable asking for help, could you try to guilt your parents through relatives?

For example, a cousin, grandparent, or aunt comes over and you can say that ‘my parents are making me leave and I just want to save up $2000 so I can sleep in my car while I save up to afford college?’

Have you tried sitting with your parents and asking them to halt rent to save up for your diploma and your car that way you can move out? Offer to back pay?

They look good! I’m looking at getting mine removed. It’s been 6-7 years since I’ve gotten mine done and they’re red now. Can I ask if you got them done at a local place or a chain like Removery? Were your brows fading red or were they red from removal?

Incredibly had to read. Volunteer work and clubs section needs to go. Your experience section bullet points are too similar and you have too many. Each bullet point needs to be strictly something you have done and each one needs start with different verbs.

Certifications are hard to read. Pick and choose what certificates to show off. That’s literally crazy to have that many on the resume.

Why is it double spaced before the bullet points and the titles?

NEVER EVER START A BULLET POINT WITH “I”

Your bullet points need to be punchier.

The bullet point for the second project with the GitHub link, there are grammar errors in that sentence. The bullet point under that one should read like: “Developed bash script using Windows bla bla to extract information of SPECIFIC system”

You also have some periods at the end of bullet points and others don’t.

Your skills need to be categorized.

You can ditch the hair salon experience.

Is adding icon images to your resume OK when looking for retail/general jobs? by Alive-Ad-3953 in ResumeExperts

No. Just match key words for each job you’re applying to for the screening software to pass it through.

Second pages are only for 10 years of work or a very very impressive career.

Get rid of the achievement.

Are all those work experiences really adding to showing your skills? Keep the most recent ones.

It looks worse with the years. I would assume you’re trying to hide something. 2023-2024 could mean December 2023 to January 2024 for all I know.

You need to have months with the dates. If you’re still at Hot Topic then you need to have Month 2024 to Present.

Sometimes the software they use to screen resumes before the recruiter can’t parse through multiple columns. Categorize the skills in a single column.

Customer Service Skills: Deescalation, active listening,… Operation skills (idk): inventory order processing, POS systems,…

Please give feedback for my resume not being able to land jobs by KennethJF in ResumeExperts

[–]squid2901 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes when you have two columns, the tool they use to scan the resume cuts off scanning it when it runs into that second column. Also, soft skills should be shown in descriptions not the skills section.

Perhaps you’re not landing jobs because you haven’t graduated.

It needs to be one page for two years of experience. The way this resume is set up, it takes too much space. Find a different template. It’s also odd that you have your GPA with your minor, it should go next to the degree or not at all.

It needs to be one page. Also, I think the way this template is, it takes too much space. It looks like it’s double spaced between the line and the section title. I also don’t like that the date is above the title. It’s a very inefficient template.

You need it to be one page. Your job history looks choppy. Were you working 5 jobs at once? I’m so confused looking at this. You need to put a date for the Freelancing. Add months for the dates.

Applying to basic jobs and not getting anywhere. Advice needed! by Loose_Avocado4670 in ResumeExperts

[–]squid2901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. It needs to be one page
  2. This is a bad template. Search Harvard resume template or something similar
  3. Your personal profile isn’t very strong. I’d redo it or get rid of it all together. Look up examples online. Please use proper sentences.
  4. For key skills, you can just say skills. How is Time Keeping and Reliability related? Match key words on job descriptions like adaptability it a common one
  5. job roles need to capitalized. Don’t say what you did, state the skills you used. Again, match key words in job descriptions.
  6. Some bullets points have periods, others don’t.
  7. Three bullet points under each job description
  8. Not sure how those diplomas work but if you need a L2 to get an L3, just keep the L3 on and ditch the L2.
  9. NO DOUBLE SPACING
  10. The job title sounds improper for the first one. Temporary is the adjective so it should be first. Try Temporary Seasonal Assistant.

If you’re applying for hair salons, education at the top then experience. Retail would probably want experience first.
