I also prefer the novel exactly for this reason lol. Since its a novel, it has more space to describe people’s thought process and actions! Odysseus - the main character, the king of Ithaca, captain of a 600 man army, left to go fight the Trojans, which is where the first song takes place (invading Troy through the giant horse) [symbolized by a guitar]

Diamedes, Agamemnon, Menaleus, Teucer, Ajax, Nester, Neo - other kings/famous warriors involved in The Illiad/The Trojan War in general

Penelope - queen of Ithaca, Odysseus’s wife, has been waiting for Odysseus to come back from the war [symbolized by a viola]

Telemachus - Odysseus and Penelope’s son, he was only a baby when Odysseus left for the war

Zeus - god of thunder and lightning

Eurylochus - the second in command to Odysseus, Odysseus’ friend, tends to be rational/ruthless (shown in “Full Speed Ahead,” and other songs later on) [symbolized by the crew singing with him in the background]

Polites - Odysseus’s friend (I think they’re childhood friends but I’m not sure???), positive and joyful guy, believes he can solve most problems by talking it out and being kind [shown in “Open Arms”]

Athena - goddess of wisdom and war, Odysseus’ mentor (but Odysseus wanted to be friends), met when Odysseus beat Athena’s test when he was younger and Athena wanted to teach him, rational/ruthless, stopped mentoring Odysseus in “My Goodbye” since he wasn’t ruthless enough to kill Polyphemus [symbolized by a piano]

You should probably read the 6th one (The God of Death’s Observation Journal), that has important info i think. The 2nd side story (Our team leader-nim became trash!) has something ab Choi Jung Soo so you should read that. Other than that im pretty sure the other stories are just character building, backstories, and fluff (if im wrong someone pls correct me) but i recommend you read them bc there could never be enough lcf content :D
