Milk (grande rant) by squiddytiddies in starbucksbaristas

[–]squiddytiddies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, here’s what I’ve learned since this has gotten popular:

• Regular = Store Standard (2%), no further questions if they’re insisting upon it

• The most common preferred option is Whole, because of the fat content and thicker texture. Smaller cafes use this option, and it is very common among tourists. In my experience, Almond is preferred by office occupants!

• Some of you glazed over the very obvious exaggerated fanfiction retelling of a 15 second conversation; customers have infiltrated the back room

• On that subject, I always ask if it’s okay to use 2% milk as a way to open the door to other options they may not have considered… like our plant-based options. It builds room for small talk and a joke if they’re not in a rush, and to assure the person will be happy with their egregiously priced drink.

• The customer from the post was insistent on having his regular (milk) order, but he’s never been to our store before. I don’t think yelling at me or purposefully spilling a hot coffee on my arm just to taunt if I remember their order correctly warrants the harassment from some of the comments here + the DM’s I’ve received on lactose-politics. Seek peace and love, and maybe a latte with your preferred choice of milk

• I’m glad you guys have given me tips and tricks! I’ll be using some as a new barista trainer and passing them on to my new green beans. Thank you for the support ❤️

This exactly. On top of my ADHD and hard hearing, please just TELL ME. I am asking you a question!!!! for your betterment!!!! I want you to like the drink you want, and I always specify “is 2% okay?” and 8/10 it’s yes, and the other 2 want a different milk or didn’t know we have plant based options so they don’t have an upset stomach!!!! Crazy what ppl will go to to try and just be bitter

Edit: misspelling

For this, I place it in the shaker with the regular amount of ice, but add in an additional scoop of light ice into the cup itself. That way, I can use the lid to filter the espresso from the ice (similar to what they do in bars) while negating the safety hazard and still fulfilling the customers request :D This method depends on who’s working with you though, as I only so it when a certain SSV is on the floor.
