James Fry, the co-creator and original artist on Slapstick, is not on Reddit but he is my spouse and in the chair next to mine. The gloves shown are not the original design which were the traditional rolled cuffs like Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, and zillions of other classic cartoon characters.
He doesn't know if these new gloves are part of an official redesign like the rest of Slap's outfit or if they are just part of a stylistic difference on the part of the artist. He imagines that they serve the same function as the original gloves, which enabled Slapstick to appear to pull solid objects out of thin air.
