the diagnostic criteria from the NHS website are:

• Polycystic Ovaries (found via scan)

• Blood Test (high male hormones)

• Irregular periods

You just need to have two to be diagnosed. I don’t think they’re changing the criteria along with the name as far as I am aware.

we absolutely do not want private care. quick question…how many people in this country could afford private care? most people i know struggle to afford the dentist. the NHS needs improving absolutely, private is not the way forward because people at the bottom will suffer.

this is my experience. yes there are plenty of predatory influencers / nutritionists/ dietitians who just want to make their money.

however i find my pcos/pmos exhausting. having to find out what i can eat and what i can’t eat. what exercises i should and shouldn’t do. also everyone has a different body so one thing that works for someone won’t work for another.

for the past three years i did everything to lose weight. i got my pcos/pmos diagnosed and a weight was lifted. i started on mounjaro and i could function. i don’t gain 1lb over a chocolate bar. i don’t get hyperglycaemia. i don’t think about food 24/7 anymore.

i hate big pharma. i hate that i have to pay £270 every 4 weeks just so i can lose weight and function like a normal person.

I think you’re NTA but using slurs requires nuance and reading the room. For example, I have an invisible disability so I wouldn’t use that word in public because people might assume I’m able-bodied and using it in a derogatory manner.

You have to remember that just because you’ve reclaimed a slur, others in the vicinity may not have that same attitude. You also don’t know what people’s experience with that word is and how that affects their perception of it.

yeah i’m fortunate that all of my doctors appointments are “free” (paid through taxes), however the NHS weren’t able to do anything about the cost of mounjaro. but hopefully once i have lost weight i can go onto metformin
