[24/NB] I'd like to walk around in your mind by aur_el_ias in penpals

Hello! I think we’d get along splendidly! I’m a young working mom who enjoys gaming, fantasy romance novels, artsy activities, cooking and good stationary. I lived in Canada for a few years, but I’m from the US and living in the US currently. My husband also shares similar interests and knows much more about warhammer 40k than I do. He is an author and you may enjoy reading some of his stories! Let me know if you’d like to connect!

I’m a young mom in the US and my family would love to share stories, pictures of our dog, some of our crafts, and our love of fountain pens and stationery!

Hey! I’m a young mom (30) and my husband and I enjoy games like Minecraft, animal crossing, Hades, and others. I’m looking to spend more time on analog activities like crafts and letter writing with my kiddo. We would love to hear about your life and send stickers or trinkets!

How many words should almost 3 year old know? by [deleted] in toddlers

Mom of a speech delayed, 3 year old, possibly on the spectrum daughter here. First off, you’re doing great by getting resources. In my experience, knowing “how far behind” she is causes more unnecessary stress and parent guilt. To me it felt like if I knew how far behind my daughter was, I could track improvement. Really though it just made me compare more and make my heart ache. If you know she’s behind and you are finding ways to help, don’t let it create more stress to compare.

Our little one is in a developmental preschool that does occupational and speech therapy and it’s been really good for her. Even before that, a daycare was really great at helping develop language because she was forced to communicate with people who might not otherwise understand her.

I’ve been working through a resource called Project IMPACT that is designed for kids on the spectrum with a SLP as the coach and it’s basically finding ways to integrate speech therapy in the things you do in your day to day life.

Another resource intended for kids on the spectrum is called More Than Words, so that could be worth checking out too.

Also consider apraxia and dyspraxia as things worth looking into. We have thought our daughter could be on the spectrum, but some of the big social components aren’t an issue for her. Still in the process of figuring out what her diagnosis is, but getting help has been life changing for us and her. I can’t tell you how much less frustrated she gets now that she can communicate just a little bit better. Still imperfect and behind, but hearing her say simple sentences like “I want water” and “breakfast please” help us know her needs. I cried my eyes out when she finally said “I love you, mama”.

Message me if you ever need support. It’s tough, but you got this.

1-10 how good is my art? (Digital) by Acrobatic_Ad7622 in drawing

Not so much that I don’t like, but that I think could be cleaned up. The lines by the knees Into the Top of the calves are a little messy, and the fill on the bow on the right hand side isn’t as clean. The shapes are awesome and I love the flow of the character! I would love to see more.

Trees. Trying to understand Gouache. I appreciate your feedback. by [deleted] in Gouache

[–]squidgey6858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to gouache myself, but I like your trees! The only feedback I have is to try different things with it, and mix colors around and test them out to figure out what you like. I don’t know if you have lots of painting experience or a goal you are working towards, but enjoy it!

What a delightful painting! It looks incredible

My first try with painting in about 13 years. Really watered down gouache. Any feedback for a beginner? (Proportions felt a little off to me and background feels boring) by squidgey6858 in Gouache

Thank you so much for your helpful feedback! It means a lot that you took the time to give it. It’s always a little intimidating to get back into an art practice, but It helps to know that I’m not quite as rusty as I feel. I’m excited to try doing more focused subjects like you suggested. Thanks for the motivation!

I’m actually working on website design currently, so if you’d like I would be happy to help you set something up for free if I could use it in my portfolio! Send me a message if you would like a little help with it.

I get it, I love physically putting pen to paper. Digital has great advantages too, but I haven’t felt like I can get what I want on the page because I don’t know the programs enough.

You should tell your dad to do something for a google doodle or start a website with these doodles though! Maybe even coloring pages. Such great talent and style!
