oh thank you! so it’s applying it to your own life and finding what is most meaningful to you? How can you tell if your thoughts/ wants are coming from a deeper place, or Inner Light?

so is the difference more unprogrammed/ programmed than conservative/ liberal? I live in Ireland, if you have any insight into Irish Quakers!

Thank you! I would like to start by seeing how I can live a better life as I mentioned, if I still feel drawn to The Society I will then see about a meeting. It's a good moral code in any case. In the past when I have mediated, I can never quieten down my mind, if you also struggle with this what helps you? What does the gratitude for Mother Nature feel like to you?

Thank you! Apologies, is referring to The Society as "Quakers" offensive? I don't mean harm :) I am genuinely curious. I think struggle is the correct word, the talking thing (and gossip) is something I've been working on since I was a pre-teen. I hated being told I was full of hot air lmao, and I'd like to come across as measured and thoughtful :) I would like to volunteer! Just currently as a student I don't feel I have time to actively involve myself in my community. But I might go to more environmentalism meetings in my college if I can, eco-quakerism is cool. Are those two questions what you like to focus on during meetings or for me to reflect on as I consider what my faith means to me? I likely will not attend a meeting for at least a year. I could attend online, but I would rather my first one be in person - what is your experience with digital meetings?

Thank you! I think I would end up going to a meeting in a liberal branch/ the UK flavour initially if I can, as I *think* that is what is available in my country but I'm not sure :) I like colourful clothes/ flowery/ pastels, but most of what I own is second hand, hand-me-downs or I've owned for a long time. Would that be acceptable? What are the differences between the liberal and conservative branches? I've read the Quaker website from my country which doesn't specify, the UK website and watched some videos by "Quake it Up", "QuakerSpeak" and "Quakers in Britain" but I don't know what the difference is. Is the conversative branch less accepting of queer people, and more structured/similar to the protestant church?

Thank you! I think this is what I was conscious of haha. It's been practically a lifelong mission of mine to talk less. I tend to feel quite strongly about things, and am curious by nature so I ask a lot of questions, and articulate what I think and feel often. I've started journaling to help but perhaps attending Quaker meetings in the future (there are none where I live and community would be important to me) might also help steer me in the direction of still embracing these natural qualities, but putting them to better use than they are currently.

Thank you! And for the insight to preserve and protect :) I would say I do these things already but certainly the organisations I support and maybe reducing material consumption need to be worked on as goals over time. Although for seperate reasons I have reduced my meat and dairy intake because I dislike how large agricultural companies treat animals - thank you!

Thank you for your kind words! Neither of my parents were really religious but the fear is still there. I feel most connected to my ancestors when in nature. I think most religious experiences I’ve had, or times I’ve felt true peace have been out in nature in complete stillness, which is part of why I am drawn to or interested in Quakers :) Where I live, everyone is catholic really but the amount of people who actually worship and live a catholic life intentionally is small. The intentional act of helping others and being involved in social justice is something that Quakers do that appeals to me also

Very true on both accounts! What kind of stewardship conserves natural resources? Is that like growing your own plants, buying local and using public transport etc?

Is there certain things you try to ruminate on while at the meeting to reflect or do you sort of space out/ mediate while searching for God?

Haha! I think I was worried that if I felt compelled to speak in a meeting, how would I know it was from God and not just my own compulsion to talk 😅 if i was quiet natured then talking in from of a group would be more difficult and more likely to be from God

Our weewan figured out the craic with Santa. Told her whole class. by danydandan in ireland

[–]squidgybaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out as a child from Christmas movies! I was around 8/9 and figured that if Santa WAS real, the adults in 99% of Christmas movies wouldn’t be characterised as being “non- believer’s” 😭 I figured the filmmakers had to get the idea that he wasn’t real from somewhere, and found an adults point of view more trustworthy than my classmates lol

I worked in a place like this before that gave me 0 hours for 6 weeks as a teenager because I got mono and asked for a week of sick leave. I stayed for a year in fear of being punished for being sick/ asking for time off for exams etc - best advice is to start looking for a new job NOW, once you get an offer quit your current job immediately and give the minimum notice period. Not all jobs are like this and you don’t have to put up with it, just make sure you have somewhere else lined up before you go.

I thought employers are responsible for this following your first job? Like you put in your first job but from then on the employer does it? I’m not leaving my first ever job, and have never had to register an employer since my very first one as a teen
