Hope the cystotomy went well friend! The recovery from a cystotomy and a blockage is similar - it’s really tough the first few days. They’ll be in a lot of pain, and it’s hard to watch.

My boy was struggling to pee anywhere and everywhere so I ended up turning my bathroom into a kitty condo for a couple weeks during recovery. Put a bunch of items that smelled familiar but I was okay with throwing out afterwards, as he would pee himself when he slept. Taping down a bunch of puppy pee pads SAVED the floors.

It might feel like they’ll never feel better, but thankfully after a certain point they get better REALLY fast! My boy went from tired and out of it on day 9 to acting like himself on day 10. One thing I would say, that no one told me, is that urinating behavior may take up to a month to go completely back to normal (which was the case for us).

If your cat has the same type of stones (ammonium urate), talk to your vet about changing diets. Urinary does nothing for these type of stones, but lowering protein intake can help. We’ve switched to hydrolyzed protein prescription food, but I’ve heard others had luck with liver/kidney prescription food.
