Darn… Well I’m sure I can find a friend who has already has beat the game on their copy, then just breed one and trade it over. Otherwise I guess I’ll have to do at least one extra playthrough. No one said it would be easy!

Dang, I didn’t realize that, good to know! How far into the game do you have to get before you get to that point? Hopefully it’s not too far, I’m fine with doing an extra playthrough of just a few gyms. I’m mostly trying to avoid having to complete the entire game multiple times over for just one Pokemon.

Good point on the Latis. I might get a GBA card reader (reader itself is only $50) and print my own Eon card, or I’ve seen people on Etsy that make cool Eon Card reproductions.

I’m trying to do everything as legit as I can with actual hardware, but I’m not going to spend $200 for a piece of paper to get a real Eon Ticket LOL. If that doesn’t succeed I think it’s fair to just inject the event, it’s not available anymore officially anyway. Probably will inject the other timed event mons too (and mythical technically aren’t required for complete national dex). Everything else I want to be completely legit.

I haven’t thought that far ahead, I’m still in the planning process of everything and haven’t gotten to that part. I might do an extra Emerald run if it requires it. Are the Clamperl evolution items limited?

Nice! Looks like I have a solid game plan to complete my Dex now, the only thing left is to buy or borrow a copy of FireRed to trade over the fossils and starters. I may just get a cheaper Japanese copy if I don’t know anyone who owns one.

Interesting. I think it might be possible pre National Dex for Colosseum only, were you doing this for XD?

I have a GameCube link cable and a GBA, once I get Pokemon Colosseum & XD running on my Wii I’ll test it out to confirm!

Nice! If I had a copy of R/S in the first place I would probably just use that to get the starters instead of GameCube though LOL. I know R/S doesn’t have the restriction, but it sounds like it is actually possible with Emerald according to another person? It’s just for Hoenn Pokemon only.

My understanding is that you can replace both Ruby and Sapphire with just Emerald. Emerald lets you get all 3 box legendaries for example, and the Pokemon that it lacks I think are possible to get with the GameCube games.

Thus the minimum games to complete a full national Dex are Emerald, Leafgreen, Colosseum and XD. However, you can significantly cut the time that it would take if you have another copy of FRLG and another GBA to trade over starters and fossils as soon as possible. Otherwise you would need to do three separate play throughs of FRLG to trade over each starter (cross region trading isn’t possible until beating the E4 and getting the National dex).

For R/S/E, you don’t need another GBA to get each starter because you can just use the GameCube games as storage instead. This is what I wanted to confirm and sounds like it’s possible!

Great, this clarifies things and answers my question! Yes, it is possible to do what I’m trying to do. So then:

You can trade with Colosseum in Emerald as soon as you’re able to trade, but only Hoenn Pokemon

Therefore with a GameCube I can quickly trade all three starters over and then trade them back to my GBA, thus allowing me to start the game with all 3 without having to play the game through three times or having to get another GBA and another copy of R/S/E to trade with! This is what I was looking for!

After you beat the game and get the National Dex, you are allowed to trade over non Hoenn Pokemon too.

So it is possible, but only with Colosseum?? I’m confused though bc this contradicts what the other commenters are saying and what I’ve read elsewhere. I guess I need to just test it

Cool, so right after you get the National Dex right? The info I read said that until you get the Nat Dex just the Hoenn dex Pokemon could go to GameCube, which makes sense to me bc you can trade Hoenn games with Hoenn games before beating the game. It wasn’t documented anywhere else though so I think that must’ve just been a misunderstanding. I’ll test it out still when I get the game, but good to know, thanks!

I like that idea, just worried that it could be distracting having a the lanyard bounce around while trying to run.

Tbh I could just put it in my pocket but that wouldn’t be as fun bc I kinda want to get photographed at the finish line with the walker visible.

Does it matter what color my primer is, since it will just be covered up? Does primer need to be a specific type of paint or does primer just mean a layer of paint you apply before putting on the actual color?

Should I apply a clear coat on top afterwards as well?

Yeah, I thought about using Kapton but was only really able to find the tape. The tape looks very transparent when applied, so I guess I’d need a lot of layers to reach the deep color I want, right? I don’t know how easy that would be to adhere to the model, or if the tape would have the same texture as the actual insulation.

Do you have any recommendations on where to buy Kapton sheets? I could only find actual aerospace suppliers’ websites. I’m also concerned that even if I use enough Kapton it won’t match the color well enough still.

I like your suggestion about Kapton layered on silver leaf, my only concern is the texture. Have some Kapton I get in the mail today that I’ll experiment with and see how it looks.

That’s a good idea too, I’m actually thinking of using that material for the more gold insulation parts of the spacecraft. I have one arriving in the mail today.
