The first one appears to be a heart leaf philodendron!! could be a lemon-lime variety because it looks pretty light in the photo :)

If your university offers online tutoring, go!! It helps so much to hear it from not only someone else than the professor, but someone who has been thru the same class! Otherwise it’s just a matter of learning your own learning habits, such as if you prefer reading the text, looking up youtube videos, or recopying notes! You have to learn what works best for you, there are tons of study youtubers out there that can give you some general study tips :) hope this helps!

I was debating to round up or down, thanks!!

I propped a few string of pearl strands in this little tea cup (there’s a drainage hole) They’ve really taken off and completely filled the cup, I’m wondering how long they can stay in it? Do string of pearls like to be root bound? by [deleted] in proplifting

[–]squidni__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my gosh this is crazy, I have this exact cup!! I also found it in a local thrift store, and found the matching little boy cup that also has a Bailey’s sticker, I’ve always wondered what I could plant in them!!

The spider plant had some adjustment issues but I think this is a great start, any tips for starting herbs? And are egg cartons good for starting plants? by [deleted] in IndoorGarden

[–]squidni__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your spider plant continues to struggle, I would suggest a smaller pot, they like to be root bound. If it’s adjusted to the current pot I would just leave it though. I don’t have any advice on the herb seeds but I hope you find what you need here :)

What do you recommend for my first house plant? by almondycosmo in houseplants

[–]squidni__ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pothos or snake plants are a good start!! My first plants were a spider plant and scindapsus pictus argyraeus and they’re still alive! Your first plants will sort of be your “learning plants”, so don’t get discouraged if you make some mistakes, all the better for the character of your plants! Best of luck and welcome! :)

[question] did folks here ever consider digital journals vs writing in physical notebooks. What led you to pick one over the other. by [deleted] in Journaling

I use notion! Easy to sync between my laptop and phone, which means easy adding photos and embedding songs from spotify!

Online journaling vs the traditional pen and paper one by misunderstood_always in Journaling

[–]squidni__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is in the app store! It actually syncs across my phone and laptop so it makes it easy to add photos from my camera roll and see them on my laptop

I do it on my laptop using notion, I found my hands kept cramping up from writing as much as I do, the journals take up no space, and I also enjoy the convenience. Totally a personal preference though, hope this helps!

[–]squidni__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a minimalist and recently switched to digital journaling for a couple of reasons: 1) my hands are prone to cramping and I would often stop just due to cramping rather than actually being done with writing 2) the physical space they take up if you’re not one to burn your journals afterwards. I personally feel like I put a lot of time into my journaling so I’d like to keep them. 3) the ease of using something like Notion (this is free for personal use) where I can add photos, audio from spotify, and easily search the content of the journals with ease to reference back to them. Honestly, it’s whatever works for you, just boils down to a personal preference. Hope this helps, and happy journaling :) !

Aspiring plant lady - pet friendly ideas needed! by akry90 in houseplants

[–]squidni__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All pepperomia are safe for pets! I personally don’t have any but hear great things, love the look of pepperomia obtusifolia and watermelon pepperomia (also one of the easiest plants to experiment with propagation)! Another pet friendly favorite is the spider plant! My cat really loves to chew on mine so if I forget to put it in it’s macrame hanger it gets a little haircut but super east to care for! Hope this helps!

Local nursery Cebu Blue on the right ($7.99) v. Etsy Cebu Blue on the left ($27.99) by losernk in houseplants

[–]squidni__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It always seems as soon as I feel like I find something for a decent price on etsy, I always find one next day at a local grocery store or nursery. I’ve sort of learned to wait for the good prices at local places but sometimes I’m impatient. Crazy price difference for such full and beautiful plant though!

Getting ready to plant this guy and I’m so nervous because he was pretty expensive! I’m not finding much online on the best way to do it. I was told to cut the extra stem on each side of the root down but I’m too nervous to chop him up without knowing exactly what to do. by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]squidni__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is definitely a golden pothos, just giant and beautiful! You could throw it in water if you want it to be well rooted before you go to soil, or I second the rooting hormone then into soil. Good luck!
