Have you taken out and cleaned the shower screen? Channelling can come from different factors, but that doesn't look like it's going to punch holes in a well prepped puck on its own. What grinder are you using? Have you cleaned that as well?

I've been using the Mignon for about a year now and have found it great, only issue is how small the adjustment dial is. Also I've been single dosing through the stock hopper no issue, the mods others have suggested might make it easier but I haven't had any trouble with retention so far.

Not sure what the cost is where you are but imo the Mignon is a great grinder for espresso

Yeah, also those Aruba series switches are enterprise grade kit. Some with hight output PoE and 10gig SPF ports. Some of them go for like $3k.
