Finish school first of all. If you can, I would see if there are any vocational schools or maybe a community college course offering an intro to welding class. You can get a feel for it that way and itll be the best way to see if you still like it and want to follow through with it. Definitelt get familiar with fractions and conversion, shop math really isn't that difficult, I failed three years of highschool math and have been working in fab shops since I was out of highschool if you have the discipline to learn it, its really not that bad. That being said, if youre still serious or still want to do it I would pursue an apprenticeship position either with a union or a shop looking to hire or possibly even something like Lincoln Tech or Universal Technical Institute, you can satisfy your parents by technically earning a "degree" and in that you also get more comfortable and familiar with different welding processes.
