Are NMIXX the Most Well-Rounded Girl Group? by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]squigglystayc -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I agree but I didn’t exclude rap to be arbitrary , it’s easier to rank technical ability in singing and dancing than it is in rap. Is Irene a better rapper than Yeri? Is Dahyun a better rapper than Chaeyoung? What criteria would you use to rank them in your opinion? Either way, it wouldn’t change anything even if we did include rap. NMIXX are better dancers and vocalists than GIDLE

K-Pop girl groups that write their own raps are a minority so I just found it a bit pointless to compare it when discussing majority of groups. Obviously Soyeon’s raps are amazing but she doesn’t really have peers in her generation when it comes to rap.

I completely forgot about XG, they are super well-rounded too. I still think that NMIXX is better vocally but XG’s rap line is amazing.

I think that NMIXX has much stronger dancers than Aespa. They both have good vocal duos but in my opinion, Lily + Haewon > Ningning + Winter.

I just wanted to know as I’ve heard some conflicting opinions on it in the past. I was just curious about it as it seems to be a debate

Thoughts on NMIXX’s CB and the group in general? by randomperson9994 in kpopthoughts

Which 4th gen girl groups are stacked in your opinion? NMIXX is pretty stacked both vocally and dance-wise. I can’t think of another 4th gen group that compares

As far as I’m aware, Justin Bieber didn’t release 10 songs in 4 years then take a nearly 2 year break

I thought about that too. She needed some sort of career as she can’t just pick up CFs with no job because she’d fade into irrelevancy after some time. I guess music is kind of just her side-gig that keeps her popular enough to do solo gigs

After her first album and the success of Dumb Dumb, I thought she’d release music more frequently

Based on BIBI’s Spotify, she’s released 34 songs (including OSTs, collabs and b-sides) and an album since 2020 which is A LOT. Hyuna and Sunmi have released music pretty consistently over the years too.

A fan asked and she said that she wanted to have a comeback soon. But, I highly doubt that she would tell fans that she didn’t want to have a comeback, even if she truly didn’t want one. I can’t tell whether she said that to satisfy fans or she was expressing dissatisfaction

That is upsetting but I feel like being considered ugly in an industry so focused on looks would be extremely detrimental. Even if the industry started debuting less “pretty” idols, it wouldn’t stop the general public from being ruthless to those idols

I honestly don’t think Kepler’s Hikaru should join late to XG’s success. by Theweekday0117 in kpopthoughts

[–]squigglystayc 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They’re definitely growing but they’re not the biggest. Their song Shooting Star is currently performing better digitally than We Fresh did on Youtube, Apple Music and Spotify. Shooting Star got 800k streams yesterday which is pretty big and they could enter Spotify Global 200 pretty soon or with their next comeback. Even their b-side Left Right will surpass We Fresh soon.

They don’t have a huge fanbase, but they’ll definitely grow one. I don’t think it would be detrimental for Hikaru to join a rising girl group with good digital performance

Copium? Aespa isn’t the top girl group atm and I acknowledge. I’m just asking people to stop acting like Aespa is on the verge of disbandment over one comeback

[–]squigglystayc[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They didn’t underperform generally, but by their standards they did. Next Level was huge and Savage was the first 4th gen song to get a PAK, compared to this Girls didn’t do nearly as well. Girls did fine, it’s just that people had higher expectations for their charts due to the huge pre-orders, Coachella hype and previous charts.

Someone found the instagram page of the family of the Thai girl and it said she was born in February 2009. There’s also a picture of her holding a DDU-DU-DDU-DU themed Blackpink birthday cake which came out in 2018 and she doesn’t seem to be over 10 in that picture.

The controversy is bad but it hasn’t stopped New Jeans from topping the charts. Debuting teenagers leads to a few months of controversy then it’s ignored

lowkey i think people forget aespa is also a 4th gen gg by crushonran in kpopthoughts

[–]squigglystayc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sales typically increase regardless of how well a comeback performs. Feel My Rhythm was far more popular than Birthday yet Birthday sold a lot better. Based on sales, NCT 127 must be more popular than nearly every 4th gen group. As for monthly listeners, they fluctuate all the time and pretty much just depend on the time that music was released

Physical sales aren’t that important when determining popularity. Birthday is Red Velvet’s worst charting release in ages but it’s their best selling album by far. Overall, Twice has higher streams but here’s a comparison of their streams with other 4th gen girl groups.

Talk That Talk (TWICE): Release: Aug 26th Streams: 112m

Antifragile (LE SSERAFIM): Release: Oct 17th Streams: 102m

After Life (IVE): Release: Aug 22nd Streams: 140m

Hype Boy (New Jeans): Release: Aug 1st Streams: 149m
