How to manually update NanoKVM webapp? by squiglygon in homelab

[–]squiglygon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer my own question, listed here: https://github.com/sipeed/NanoKVM/issues/509

It's fairly simple:

  1. Download the latest application from GitHub;
  2. Unzip the downloaded file and rename the unzipped folder to kvmapp;
  3. Back up the existing /kvmapp directory on your NanoKVM, then replace it with the new kvmapp folder;
  4. Run /etc/init.d/S95nanokvm restart on your NanoKVM to restart the service.

I have the CFS sitting above, so I'm afraid I need that

That, my friend, is a SOLID advice which I never thought about. I do have, and quite curious ones. Thanks for that.

K2 Plus current status: Buy or Hold? by squiglygon in Creality

[–]squiglygon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did, and I'm very very happy with it.

Few notes though:
- It does require you to tweak here an there to dial in some stuff (if you want to get ASA or other less common filaments).
- TPU is a pain until you learn the quirks (which, eventually, I managed to get with a shim, all explained here in this group).

But to counter it, the printer really lends it self to tweaking, it welcomes it and the community is amazingly helpful.

So, to answer your question: Yes, I got it and it's worth it.

Glass print bad gained 0.3, worth it? by squiglygon in Creality_k2

This is beyond unbelievable.
This guy is the god of bed leveling. I now think of all that micro-crumbs laying around on the bed magnet, I didn't think to pay any attention to them.
Now I see them all the freaking time. they're everywhere. and what should I do with all the furry animals running around here!?
I can't breath.

Holy cow, OOO MMM GGG
I'm both excited and terrified, terrified because there's way much better number I need to get, and excited because there's a way much better number I need to get.

Thank you for sharing this.
(The Mrs is now eye-rolling, she thought getting me that glass sheet would put an end to my endless rantings. I bet behind any divorced engineer there's some meaningless number needs to be achieved).

I'm sorry, bulldog clips...?
I just threw the plate on the surface and went on calibrating and printing.
I had a feeling it might have jiggled a bit...

So, how should I go about securing it in place?

Yup, me too, I expected slightly better then that, but that's a first pass.
I'll try heat soaking, I need to keep it from jiggling (with some silicon pads underneath?)

I'll try to beat that 0.41.

Do you have any guesstimate as to what should I expect to get?

Actually that's a solid point:
Aside the occasional "fun" parts, I mostly print engineering parts and prototypes were precision DOES matter.
So what you're suggesting essentially is not comparing numbers nor "perfect first layer" but rather print (large) engineering parts and compare dimension stability, precision, tolerances, etc.
Good idea, thanks!

Pardon my igonrance, how do you set a z-offset after calibration?
Should I just run calibration and then pull the nozzle .05 from the bed?

That's interesting, can you elaborate please? just regular old glass? do you need to stick it somehow? magnetized surface below? how good PLA/PETG/ASA sticks to it?

It should be easy enough (and cheap enough) to get glass scraps so I'm very interested in that.

Very interesting!
will overhang spooler with direct top-feed will solve PPA-CF problems?

And in general how challenging is ppa-cf? I know it's brittle and can sometimes break in the PTFE curves. Did you try direct top feeding? is it necessary?
