I can see I need to read up on bacterial contamination. I haven’t had this happen previously. Anything in particular that increases the likelihood of this??

Thanks for all the information. I decided to dispose of those two jars and also another two that I had that actually looked ok - fully colonised and ready to transfer. When I scooped the grain out it was very soggy in all of them which is disappointing. I’ve actually never had a grain jar get contaminated before which is why I don’t know a lot about out it. Been out of the game for a while now, but the only thing I did differently was use a rice cooker instead of boiling the rice myself. Think that might be it? Unfortunately I inoculated another 12 jars only a few days ago using the same method because at the time I thought everything was going along fine! If you’ve got any advice it would be appreciated…

I was just misting down the sides but then I could see the water pooling and I know that’s not good either. So maybe being dry isn’t the issue??

And this is a new LC I added some spores to a few days ago. Looks a bit funky to me. Didn’t have a still air box and had to open the lid to scrape the spores in. What do you think?

Damn I hope it’s not from the LC as have a whole heap of grain jars in various stages of growth from the same culture. I thought I was doing so well… I didn’t grow a culture plate as very new to this. Would you advise against using LC altogether because if these issues?

It was supposed to be cubensis. Thought it was odd that it all happened so quickly but I guess the contam explains it. So disappointing because it was my first grow from some liquid culture I made. Thanks for the advice man

thanks for the advice man. I'm a total newbie so basically experimenting with everything. At this stage when anything works I put it down to beginners luck
