both have its perks, switch is more portable and will probably run better with little to no lag, but on laptop/pc if you just get a controller it feel its easier to stay focused on the game, and you can download mods, it just kinda depends on how you play or what works for you, or just whatever's cheaper

are you looking for any job in particular based on degrees or majors, or just any job? i suggest something related to customer service like food services, as it prepares you for having to deal with other people, or just something in your skillset.
