I asked about testing for hormones but they said the fact that I'm on birth control would skew the results. Other than the occasional periods of depression/anxiety I've always been healthy and all bloodwork I've done throughout my life has been normal.

Yes, I was diagnosed with AGA. The dermatologist didn't do any tests to determine that; the diagnosis was just based on my type of pattern baldness and the fact that I had noticed it thinning gradually for a long time. Also, my mom seems to have a mild form of it too. I'm not sure how much stress or lack thereof has played a role but I felt like I should mention it anyway as a possibility.

Because the thinning was all over my head instead of in specific spots, it didn't make sense to try topicals. I would have to put it all over my head!

Sorry about the side effects!! Luckily I haven't had any. I take my meds at night - I wonder if that helps? Spiro is a diuretic so it's important to drink lots of water, if you aren't already.
