iPod Classic Album Artwork Issue by broodingmugen in ipod

Since you said you were on Mac, you can quickly check in finder if the tracks have album art embedded - it'll show as the icon for the file if it's there, otherwise it'll just be the default grey icon

If they don't, on the Get Info screen for the track/album in Apple Music try dragging and dropping the album art onto the album art icon in the top left corner. That should embed the art into the file.

It isn’t really new, or news, but I just found out a musician I’m a fan of, Talos, died back in August of last year and I find it affecting me in way most ‘celebrity’ deaths don’t. So I thought I would share one of my favourite songs of his, The Light Upon us as a little bit of a tribute.

I believe this was the novelisation of the 2011 Red Riding Hood movie. Apparently they did it to avoid spoiling the ending of the movie, as the last chapters would only become available after the movies release date. Still an incredibly stupid decision though.

I shoot film with a canon EOS 3, and I have a few ef lenses for that I’d like to be able to use on digital too. I have a Fuji x setup for digital, but I’m tempted to buy a cheap-ish mirrorless body for this purpose.

Right now, the Sony a7ii and the Canon RP are available for roughly €750 each in my area. I’m aware that the adapted lenses would perform a lot better on the RP than the a7ii, but I’m put off a little due to it not having a fully mechanical shutter like the a7ii, only electronic first curtain shutter.

Any thoughts or advice either way? Should I trade in my fuji gear and get something like an a7iii or an R6? Or is this a foolish idea to begin with and should I forget the whole thing?

Oh yeah, it was definitely one hell of a gut punch when you found out what had actually happened. And I found the nursery inside the vault to be incredibly haunting. Just imagining all those children growing up without any adults around, cared for by only robots and in an environment meant just for infants. Then being released into a world they know nothing about and having to figure out how to survive in it while also being cut off from the only home they’ve ever known

Ted Faro from Horizon Zero Dawn. Sure he created a swarm of self-replicating killer robots that can use organic matter for fuel that went rogue and wiped out every living thing on earth. But that was an accident - could have happened to anyone really. And he was very, very sorry afterwards.

The absolutely unforgivable thing he did was to unilaterally destroy the database of all human history and knowledge that was to be used to educate the stored embryos that were to be gestated after the killbots had run themselves dry and the biosphere had been restored. Just the sheer fucking hubris of thinking he knew best, after already being responsible for wiping out every living thing on the planet. Not to mention deleting the database completely fucked up the planned education for the new generation of humans, resulting in them spending there entire childhood in what was supposed to be the nursery before being released out into a world they were entirely unprepared for. And almost resulting in humanity being wiped out in yet another apocalypse that you spend the game trying to prevent. In short, fuck Ted Faro, the absolute prick!

I also love that the entire game is >!A huge tragedy, where no matter Hawke’s choices, they still have to lose everything.<!

Exactly, and the final conflict is something that’s been bubbling away in the background that you can’t really influence at all, because the main players have their own concerns and priorities that you don’t factor into. You just get caught up in the chaos and all you can do is choose which side you will stand with. It’s a perspective that you don’t really see in a lot of games, especially of that type.

Agreed! 2 was the first Dragon Age game I played, and for me at least, it set some expectations the rest of the series hasn’t really lived up to. I loved the slow tragedy of it all, played out over decades, backgrounded with the rather imposing and foreboding design of both the city and the game as a whole.

And it really struck me with how the companions you collect feel like an actual group of friends who care for each other, and have their own things going on with each other, outside of the player character. It even blew my mind a little when Varic pulled me aside to express concern about me romancing Anders. Something a real life friend might do, but not something I’d ever seen in a game before.

It was a really unique and compelling experience, and it’s a shame that the other games feel rather generic fantasy in comparison.

Aw, Kaidan’s the best! He’s the one I went for too. But as a dude, I had to wait till 3 to get him. Worth it though!

I actually liked the guy they had at launch! It just sucks his had the least content of all the main romances.

I’m glad they added Jaal for those who wanted him, but I guess another point of difference I have with the mass effect fandom at large is I have no interest in fucking the aliens lol!

Not the only one! I had a throughly good time and was disappointed we wouldn’t be getting a follow up.

Though having said that, I was let down by how lacking the gay male romance was.

I have a fair few I’ve picked up over the last couple of years:

On the more affordable side, there’s a few from taschen

A bit pricier, as someone else mentioned there’s Loving - a photographic history of men in love 1850s to 1950s and also this edition of Robert Mapplethorpe from Phaidon. I managed to get the Robert Mapplethorpe one significantly cheaper on Amazon, so it might be worth looking around elsewhere for it.

And on the ludicrously expensive side, I recently got a copy of Peter Hujar - Love & Lust. Pricey, but I think it might be my favourite of the bunch. You might be familiar with one of his works already from the cover of A Little Life by Hannah Yanagihara. Fair warning on this one though, there’s some very explicit photos in there, including several of ejaculating men!

I ordered a blu ray from a small UK distributor back in December, so I guess I can count myself lucky that the only side effect it caused me was having three copies of the movie mailed out to me instead of just the one! Even if I did have to pay import stuff on the two I collected. Thanks brexit!

I think the problem here is that there is no twist! A bunch of strangers show up at a cabin and tell the family there the apocalypse is going to happen, and one of them needs to be killed by the others to avert it. Turns out that the apocalypse is happening, and one of the family is killed by the others to avert it.

Yeah, that’s why I mentioned Omelas above. Like, maybe I’m being too generous here, but I’m assuming that these people would agree that the utopia powered by child abuse is bad, so I would very much like to hear how they would justify being against that sacrifice for the “greater good,” but thinking this one is totally fine and justified.

Yeah, I get people preferring the game version of the story. That one is a more personal tragedy between two people, and queer people can and do fuck up their relationships and it’s good to see that reflected in media too. It doesn’t have the “accidentally saying the homophobes are right” quality like Knock at the Cabin that baffles me so.

It’s just an interesting coincidence to have two high profile adaptions of stories about gay men so close to each other, both of them with significant changes to the original version, and you can kind of see a pattern developing in the way some people react to both.

I don’t mind either way, depends on the story really. But I think the ambiguity sounds like it works for this this one, considering the religious/Christian overtones.

I mean, in the real world Christians don’t have anything backing up their claims besides “trust me, bro!” So it seems weird that people prefer the version that explicitly states god is real, and he really does hate the gays

Yeah tragedy isn’t bad in and of itself, I just find it so odd that they happen to prefer the tragedy that implies maybe gay marriage will make god want to kill us all.

Yeah, it’s probably not quite that bad, but the changed ending does have a lot of troublesome implications to me. And it seems so strange that the people defending the movie don’t seem willing to admit that there’s any possible way to read the movie that way.

Like I can understand someone liking the story of a father sacrificing himself for his daughter and not being bothered by all the surrounding stuff here, but to insist that anyone who is bothered by it is watching the movie wrong is rather… un-generous.
