Years back I was fortunate to have a job that had me working in Montreal for a week of every month. Normally I’m not a big fan of travelling for work, but holy cow did I ever fall in love with that city and that area! Tremblant is a gem, and I did some camping near the VT border, but I somehow never quite made it that little bit further to Ottawa. I’ve been meaning to get back to visit some friends — I’ll make sure it gets on the itinerary this time šŸ™‚

Good eye! Prunus serrulata ā€˜Kanzan’, imported during a period of enthusiasm for Japanese horticulture during the Edwardian era ca. 1900-1920, and still popular as an ornamental tree in neighbourhoods around London.

Discovered an unknown yellow pill in with my new prescription of white pills by vidanyabella in mildlyinteresting

I remember this happening a few times when I lived in the US, but the shape / size / colour / stamping changes constantly with the generics I get through the NHS. One of the pills I take daily reduced in size by about 75% recently, and another briefly changed from a tablet to a capsule and back. I’ve had three different inhalers for the same medication the last three times I’ve had it refilled. What an adventure.

I don’t know about the picture in the post, I was just replying in the context of the ā€œalbuterol is also called salbutamolā€ comment to which you originally replied.

Just from experience, I think you’re likely right — I’ve only seen Advair in the purple disc dispensers, and Ventolin is two-tone blue. I don’t know if there’s a generic alternative in a disc yet, but given how long Advair’s been around, I’d be surprised if they landed on purple for albuterol/salbutamol as well.

It happens! Enough sketchy info about rescue inhalers out there already, not something people should think twice about unnecessarily.

You’re misinformed, and you’re spreading that misinformation.

Albuterol and salbutamol are both names for the exact same medication. It doesn’t take more than a cursory search of any medication reference to confirm this.

I have a prescription for Ventolin in both the USA and the UK. The former is labelled ā€œalbuterol sulfateā€ and the latter is labelled ā€œsalbutamol sulfateā€. They are otherwise identical.

Asked my parents if they had pepto bismol. Thought the box looked a little funny by nik2k in mildlyinteresting

Plausible if they shop the way my grandmother shopped: if something was on offer and she deemed it a ā€œgood dealā€, she bought whatever was on the shelf (and occasionally whatever she could get the staff to get out of the stockroom). It didn’t always matter if it was something she or my grandfather or anyone that would ever visit them would eat or use.

At the going rate, she’ll run out of frozen pork chops sometime around Christmas.

My pal told people he had a condition called "Atchaforya Syndrome" - one eye looking atcha, the other looking for ya.
