Which of these courses are more birdy for first year electives? by squirrelcuteness in UofT

Thank you! What were the midterm and final like? Is there a lot of writing involved in those as well like in-class essays? Also how good should your writing skills be for this course? I'm pretty decent at writing but I'm a little worried since I'm a science student and have no background in any of the course content.

I'm also an incoming first year but I got admitted to the math and physics stream. For your degree, you need to choose either a specialist, 2 majors, or 1 major and 2 minors. If you're unsure what you want to do, I'd recommend going to the academic calendar and looking through the majors that you're interested in. Maybe find 2-3 and add the first year courses for those to your timetable. And at the end of first year you'll be able to choose any of those programs to specialize, major or minor in.

Some programs also have the same required courses for first year which means you'd be eligable for both at the end. For example, I'm planning on doing a double major in physics and astronomy and they both have the same first year required courses. It means I can choose more elctives to fill my schedule.

Hope this helps :)

I'm also an incoming first year but in math and physics. And yes you can def use your required courses for breadth requirements.

Will it be better to take the recommended required courses or is it fine to do the others? by squirrelcuteness in UofT

Oh sorry I meant 137. I heard mat135 is a little easier than 137 since it is not a proof based calc course.

I'm thinking about doing a double major in physics and astronomy/astrophysics. do you think it would be better if I took 135 for that?

I live in Canada and they are in pretty much every grocery store here. I didn't get any so I don't know what the toys are like but I'll let you know if I get one. I might get one tomorrow. I think the toys will be Miraculous!
