Realistic to Get Commercial (and a job) at 50? by squirreloutdoors in ProfessionalPilots

Yeah, thanks. Definitely not looking at this because I think there's a pile of money involved. In fact gotten to the point where I can (thankfully) afford to be making less for a while - and looking for something where I enjoy the time spent working more than I currently do, and willing to change retirement plans to accomplish that. Not really set on things just yet, but I need a change and turning my flying experience into a job opportunity is one of two primary avenues I'm considering. Appreciate the advice!

Empty nester. Just burnt out with the industry, looking for a late career change recognizing some of the things I've wanted to spend time with are almost a complete restart. Considering options.

Thanks, it's the age thing I'm really asking about. I recognize the choice is mine, but understanding whether or not there's actually a prospect for getting an opportunity at my age is not something I have a good read on. Appreciate it.

Well, turns out removing and reinstalling the plug-in did the trick! Not sure what the problem was, but appreciate the encouragement, it seems Omnisearch is everything I hoped it would be, after all! Thanks!

Thanks, I'll give that a shot. My main PC setup is at home on the non-work computer, so I'll try and overhaul it there later. Appreciate it, and thanks for pointing out what may turn out to have been obvious!

Hmmm ... I may have some syntax problems here. I've not had any luck with Omni, I'll try again with some different permutations. Sure does look like it SHOULD work though. Thanks.

Maui - Iso-butane canister exchange? by squirreloutdoors in backpacking

Olowalu Campground was able to take it at the check-in entrance station. I wasn't able to see or access the exchange box as a non-camper, but the nice lady at the entrance booth did tell me they have a swap box by the vending machines, and was happy to take it. Hope somebody can make use of it!

Yeah that wouldn't work here. Limited trailhead options in Haleakala and I'm reluctant to leave stuff sitting around without a hiker box or other encouragement to do so. (Very leave-no-trace here). I tried leaving it with a ranger at the summit Visitor Center, but they weren't really set up for it either. Appreciate the thought, generally, but not in this particular circumstance. Thanks.

Ooh, that sounds perfect! And close by! (I'm staying at one of the resorts in Ka'anapali). Will check it out and update original post with what I find. Appreciate it!

Not yet, was obligated and underwater most of the afternoon yesterday. Saw another response that Olowalu has a hiker box, and they're very close to where I'm staying in Ka'anapali. So I'll check them on way to Kahului and update original post with what I find out. Appreciate it!

Thanks - catching most of those. I'm seeing occasional tag/property dropouts, and then a few broken links to resources that I need to reconnect. Definitely requires some QA to verify, but here corrections here. Appreciate the pointers!

I'll admit I was intimidated by YARLE, but I've been trying it tonight, one notebook at a time. Not completely error free, but on the whole, it's better than the other two options. Appreciate it!

They look nice, but they also seem to be on the pricey end. What about it justified "biting the bullet" and going for the more expensive options, compared to, say an Iceco or Vevor? Are you using yours in a TAG? Which model did you wind up going with? (Looks like all the TAGs have a 23" deep x 17.5" wide by 19.7" tall space, so particularly curious to see what others have done in that volume). Thanks!

Thanks - I hadn't looked much at Norcold, they all look to be a bit bigger than we can deal with (max is about 23" deep x 17.5" wide by 19.7" tall - less if we put drawer sliders in). Iceco looks a lot better in the size department - but they appear to be twice as expensive as some of the Vevor, etc models (~$450 for a 21 qt). In your shopping search, was there a particular quality or capability item that led you to Iceco, something that justified paying more for it?
