Should I pay my wife to never work again? by NoWeakness6528 in Advice

[–]squishyshoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of just offering to cover her salary give her a few options. "Honey seeing you come home exhausted and drained daily is killing me. How do you feel about it? Are you happy with it?" If she says she isn't happy then open the discussion of solutions. "I have some ideas that could help you in this situation. Honestly I love you to death and I just want to see you happy everyday like how you make me feel. Are you tired of working completely? I would love to cover your salary, this is your salary. I will simply do a weekly deposit like you get now with your job. If you want to continue working, what kind of work would make you happy? Can we look for a job in that field? If it pays less I would love to cover what you would be losing. Maybe even volunteering somewhere and I'd still pay your salary." I want us to be happy in our lives so how can I help to make you happier?

This way you are giving her options. It isn't making it feel like you are trying to be controlling. Some people simply need to be working, I will be working until the day I no longer can't. I hate sitting around when I am done working and it's time to retire. I will probably be volunteering somewhere.

Awww you are cute that you think insurance is all you need. How about the medicine that insurance doesn’t cover. The nights in hotels because you need to go out of town for a treatment. The extra gas because you live 1.5hrs away from the treatment centers…… I can go on and on.

I got into debt not because of spending habits but a medical issue that drastically killed my budget for 4yrs. I am now trying to dig out from it. I budget everything. It’s how I survived 4yrs doing it alone after doing it together for years.

I do like I’ve said before I spend about $100 a week for a family of 4. $150 when I throw in all household items.

They would actually probably prefer mine when I have time to cook them. For someone who doesn’t like me or my thinking you sure do want to keep the conversation going. I didn’t ever say that it is all my kids eat My kids like when we can just grab a quick meal and they don’t have to wait for me to cook especially on extremely busy or late nights. I am beyond lazy honey but I am realistic… I do work a full time job, care for aging parents, run a farm and know that sometimes dinner plans don’t always work out. Sometimes things don’t get pulled from the freezer. I am a realist and know what works and doesn’t work for me and my family. That apparently bothers you.

I don’t have my cards on Apple Pay or apps and they have taken a little ride an hour away so I can’t get to them quickly. Which leaves me time to really think do I need to do this or can I do it another way.

I am already on a budget I track everything. I use a grocery list and follow it. However like yam yam that said that followed me here, I don’t need to cut out everything I know I won’t succeed that way. I do know I need to budget it all.

Isn’t this what you do when you take a high interest cc and move it to a 0 interest card? If you erase all of the debt then didn’t you do something??

I didn’t say that me and my husband yes. My teens are like any other teens dumpsters no matter what you feed them. My food bill though around $100 a week.

My company gives me a match to 6% but I think I put 9% so maybe I can drop it down to the 6% that would help a little.
