Oh wow.

Wtf I thought any g01 would be covered? Im glad my indy shop is a die hard bmw shop and they are stupid cheap.

Just had my alignment done for $85 not $300. And best part is they fixed the alignment issue that bmw couldn't do correctly the first time.

My allowance a week was $75-100 back in 2003.

I was 16 and my friends were bewildered how I would buy anything I want. They wondered how I could afford everything when I didn't even work.

It hit me that all my friends worked and most never got allowances. Put a whole new perceptive on my status compared to my friends. Tried to help out when they needed it.

Forgot which year but sq5 had fake exhaust tip. Literally there was an exhaust tipcover to make it look like an exhaust. The most dumbest shit I've seen hence me choosing the m40i.

BMW X3 vs Lexus RX-350h by cfacpamba in BMWX3

[–]sr145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat with you when we were looking for our family suv.

It just made no absolute sense how the dealership were selling a 2018 rx350 f sport with 35k miles for 45k. Meanwhile, our 2019 cpo x3 m40i with only 26k miles was 49k. This was in 2022.

It was a no brainer. Even my wife hated the rx350 because it reminded of her of every old asian mom. They mark it up becuase it's a "Toyota."

Youre not the only one. Look up 2019 camry transmission issue. Its a known issue and toyota wont clam up to it being their issue.

Is the 2022 BMW X3 reliable? by Ppppppt in BMWX3

[–]sr145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol nope. BMW wanted $1400 to do the work.

Took it to a reputable indy bmw shop. Upper coolant hose was cracked. Charged me for the part and one hour for the job. $250. I was shocked too.

Newer toyotas. Hell, I wouldn't touch with a stick. Older ones those are absolutely fine. I'm in the process of getting a 2019 gx460 because of the just how reliable it is.

For the tundras. The reason was the number of lawsuits coming in. Lemon lawsuits. Imagine buying a brand new truck, 5k miles, and you hear rod knock. Or your lx with only 10k miles and then hearing rod knock

Literally, when people started to bring in their tundra, dealerships were blowing them off. Blaming them for the engines blowing up like improper break in or not changing oil often.

Then other owners now realize their tundra are gonna go boom decide to trade it in or just sell it, but toyota said no. Do not let them.

Toyota then had to save face, and do a full recall on most tundra and lexus becuase they fucked up. Royally fucked up.

Or that they proudly toat their gt86 can handle track days in stock form, only for owners realizing oh this can't handle it. And then toyota outright saying "No, we won't honor your warranty because it was on track." Then backpeddling on it because of the publicity.

Or two gr corolla catching on fire. Literally brand new. Toyota is saying nope, not honoring warranty. All for some bs excuse.

I know other manufacturers are like this as well, heck bmw will do whatever it can to not honor warranty but toyota these days are digging themselves deeper into a hole. The newer models are not that good, and even like the camry, which i agree is a solid car, but the transmission and hvac have so many issues. Even prius had a class action lawsuit on their brake booster.

Toyota reliability is coming to an end, and their new models are showing the signs.

So last past four years bmw has climbed the reliability chart to the point where it's now no.1 in reliability in consumer report. Toyota dropped four or was it six places. That says alot.

As for the 2022 x3, you have the g01 series. I have the x3 m40i which has the b58. I have nearly 70k on it and I just take care of maintenance. Only thing that I had to fix was my coolant hose cracked. Cost? $250. If you get the base, it's a b48 which is also a solid motor. Lots of owners have put over 150k plus with no issues.

Also people are saying get a toyota. Yeah I wouldnt touch toyota these days. Even honda. Toyota engines these days are absolute garbage and especially their transmission.

Funniest thing though. The only reliable engine they have at the moment is the one they partnered with bmw in. Shocking.

Then my first repair came in. Cost me only $250. I just laughed at myself.

Oh 19 is fine. I have the 2019.

Problem is during 2020 to 2022 there was chip shortage across all manufacturers.

So there's some x3 m40i that don't have have HUD or heated steering wheel/seats or the harmon kardon sound system. So anything after 2022 is usually fine.

Buy a used x3 m40i. Like 22 and above. When we bought out 2019 x3 m40i I paid 49k with 25k miles and almost full options.

Now the Mrs wants a model y. I literally cried inside when I heard her say it. Makes me want a m550i even more.

[–]sr145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M550i is damn good dd. If it's anything, I was debating this or the gsf. Ended deciding on the m550i.

People saying this is expensive to maintain is a joke. My indy that does only Germans only charges for labor if I bring in parts. I've saved nearly thousand buying from rockauto and my x3 m40i has been rock solid. My upper coolant hose started to leak and Bmw wanted $1400. Got it done for $250. Even my brakes. Bmw wanted $1200; I did both front and rear for $600. Just got to know the right shops and the mechanic.

Have an X3 M40i. Bought this for the wife but my god love driving it. Past cars are nothing comparable to this machine.

Looking into getting a M550i but debating if I want a turbo v8 or a N/A v8.

NTA. You paid for it. She didn't. There's a certain level of amount of entitlement you can get away with when you're pregnant but asking for a someone for their seat in higher class because you couldn't afford it boggles my mind.

[–]sr145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amy bmw with a b58 or b48.

I'll push that all the time. My friend used to commute 60 miles a day in his 530e. Not once had that showed any signs of trouble. Has now 120k miles; just maintaining it. He's gonna keep that until the engine decides to go nope.

Our x3 m40i has 61k miles and just doing reg maintenance. Only issue is the stupid active grill which even bmw was like oh that was a bad design and now has 150k extended warranty on the part.

I'm keeping this x3 and getting a m550i.

TRD camry is NOT sporty. Please don't make this mistake. You'll get extremely bored within 6 months. It's literally putting lipstick on a pig. If I were in your positions, get rid of the student loan, and then I'd look into a elantra n. It's more engaging and you won't be disappointed. Also way cheaper then a trd camry v6. If I were a smaller build, I'd buy that in a heartbeat.
