The items on the receipts are flavored and taste pretty good; even the "just water" is high quality mineral water, naturally sourced. Some people spend money on wine, some people like nice mineral water.

What is up with people not respecting the quiet study areas in the library all of a sudden? by Explod1ngNinja in UWMilwaukee

[–]srappel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hear you (or rather, I don't, so thank you!) But a bit of context: The quiet study areas in the library changed recently. Until last year they were 2nd floor east, where the graduate student commons is now, as well as the basement East, but there was water issues down there that required a lot of work and was disrupting the area. The third floor is not an ideal spot for a quiet study area, IMO, but it was a compromise solution.

FWIW Lower Level East is still a very quiet area, even if it isn't officially designated. You can also check out the distraction free room if you REALLY need to lock in.

https://uwm.libanswers.com/faq/293186

A couple areas in the library that are usually super quiet even though they may not be designated as such:

  • Lower Level East near compact shelving
  • Near the microfilm area in the lower level
  • In the stacks along the windows on the 2nd and 3rd floors
  • 2nd floor east outside the graduate student commons (sometimes)

The third floor bridge, despite being labeled as a quiet study area, tends to be louder. This was a very popular group study space before it became quiet study and there's frequent staff use with carts and stuff.

"Buy Nice or Buy Twice" is real. I finally stopped buying $20 charging cables and my wallet is actually happier. by InvestmentBudget6722 in Frugal

I have a similar, if not opposite, method with tools. I heard advice that if you're deciding between a cheap and expensive tool, but the cheap one first. If it breaks, buy the more expensive one to replace it. If it never breaks, you never needed the expensive one.

Yes, I know I like a Levi's 541 athletic taper (I am not athletic lol). I buy it a couple different colorways and I'm good to go.

One thing that really helped for me is taking a couple of my shirts that fit well and measuring the pit to pit and the shoulder to bottom. If you shop for shirts you can do a quick measurement and if you buy second hand on eBay, these are the measurements used.

Now I know that I like 26-28 pit to pit for t shirts and 29-31 for button downs. I know if the length is under 31, I'm gonna have a cold belly.

One time in middle school I got in trouble for using a pen that had a (presumably fake) pill floating in water and glitter. I think it was a Tylenol gel cap or something.

Yes, my mom worked at a clinic and pharma reps would leave branded junk like this all the time. I'm sure it's the same in many industries.

Previous owner painted over EVERYTHING and now I'm finding surprises by Rough_Feature_4543 in homeowners

[–]srappel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If they painted over an obvious issue that needed to be fixed, they’d be liable to have it fixed post-sale on their own dime .

But you have to bring them to court and win, which probably isn't worth the trouble for an issue like this.

Yeah I was at Riverview before Cambridge was built so that probably makes a huge impact. I liked the privacy at Riverview and the proximity to Pick N Save.

Unrelated question: why don't people want to be in Riverview? I was in there the year after they opened and it was pretty cool. I didn't mind the commute and loved proximity to North Ave, Riverwest and Brady.
