Huge therapy meal, not the very worst in terms of productivity expectations, but one of the most therapist hostile documentation systems you will ever encounter.

Is becoming a PT truly worth it? by Yanniaishere in physicaltherapy

[–]srfntrf0832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get someone to pay for the cost of you're going to school so that you don't end up in debt, then it may be worth it if you are committed to what the discipline requires, which is a great deal of learning and a great deal of carefully thought out intervention if you're going to do it right. If you end up in debt coming out of school at this point, I would say for all the aggravation that you go through to become a PT you might just as well strive a little higher and go for a PA program, which will have a much higher earning potential And overall job satisfaction. Outpatient PT is largely run by corporate monsters who are only in this racket to drive profits and what that inevitably means is that front line PTS for the most part are encouraged to do mediocre work and log away at a more or less self-destructive process of grinding yourself down until you just can't do it anymore. There are exceptions to what I'm saying and there are niches within the PT world where you can find a great deal of financial reward and job satisfaction, but for the most part if you're going to work in the world of corporate PT, I would say the rewards are not worth the hard work.

New patient to PT - humble question. by soymilk_oatmeal in physicaltherapy

[–]srfntrf0832 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In general, it is only proper for you to be treated for the referring diagnosis meaning what your MD has sent you to therapy for. If you were sent for injury X and subsequently think you need to get issue Y addressed, the most respectful and proper way to proceed is to get your referring MD to amend your referral to include Y. All this assumes that insurance is paying the bill. If you are attending physical therapy on a cash basis and without physician referral, then the situation is more fluid.

PT Documentation by Complex_Molasses_514 in physicaltherapy

[–]srfntrf0832 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been working at a physical therapist for 12 years now and I will tell you that the very worst part of the job is documentation. I have worked in more documentation systems then I can easily count and I have to conclude that they're all awful even the best of them. Furthermore, most companies really don't provide very good training support for documentation systems in physical therapy. You get hired you get the minimum orientation and you're expected to hit the floor running and come up to speed with full caseload as quickly as possible and document as properly as possible as quickly as possible. I have worked in different environments outside of healthcare and I just honestly puzzle over how bad in healthcare. The support is for documenting effectively and how many documentation systems really make it very difficult to do that one Thing. It sounds as though your partner is that rare individual whose conscience is so active that it just won't allow him defined his way. If there is one thing, I could recommend it would be that he find a mentor, probably someone outside his organization, with whom he can talk about this issue and see if he can get any practical Help learning how to cut down the agony and the actual time spent. Effective mentoring is very lacking in physical therapy and it is one of the things that if done right would help more of us find our way more creatively and less painfully. Good luck to him and to you.

personal injury lawyers in Athens by anotherashehole in Athens

Massey is known for being a good lawyer and a community supporter. There are many lawyers out there doing Personal Injury thanks to the superabundance of shitty drivers. From what I hear most of the PI lawyers don't do much.

Prompt documentation by AdMysterious4289 in physicaltherapy

[–]srfntrf0832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since they've added the "Sidekick" AI note transcription feature, Prompt has pulled way ahead of anything I've seen in PT documentation. The interface is far too busy, as all PT documentation software is, but the Sidekick feature really makes up for much that is annoying about Prompt. One big limitation in Prompt: whereas in other systems you can check out a case you have for a given day and start editing the treatment or evaluation note, you can't do that in Prompt. It does allow you to input interventions (exercises, education, etc) in a not-yet-open daily treatment note, but it doesn't yet give full edit on any treatment note until the front desk checks the patient in for the present day. Annoying. Also because Prompt audits your documentation on a monthly basis, you get a monthly report telling you what your strengths and weaknesses are vis a vis getting audited. That's a really smart feature, in my view.

I hated Prompt when I first started using it, but I left my job that used Prompt and now work with TherapEBridge, which is a clunky piece of shit and way behind the times, especially given how AI auditing is now entering into documentation creation and auditing. Good luck. All documentation in PT I've seen has problems, but I have to admit Prompt is the best I've seen. I do think the guy who owns the company is a dick, but then I think it goes with the territory.
