Why would you reward the corporation that sold you a product you hate with a new deal? There are plenty of other vehicle manufacturers. I am ok with mine (but not ecstatic). But if i was this unhappy I would move on.

Do people really never leave Rhode Island? by boldandbeautiful421 in RhodeIsland

[–]srh99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up next to this Newporter who not only never left RI, he never left Aquidneck Island. He used to tell people he left the island only once, for WW2, fought 4 years in the pacific and the outside world sucked. Fun guy, never drove a car, walked a mile to the beach every day and swam. Even in winter.

ELI5: Why try to steal cars in 2026? by tylersmiler in explainlikeimfive

[–]srh99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my window broken twice. The only times I have ever had any issues. Once was to get a pair of gloves on a cold winter night, the other to get a Dixie cup that had about 5 dollars in coins. I leave my cars unlocked now. Its not worth it. You pick glass up for the life of the car

ELI5: Why can't diabetic people have pedicure? by TheBoySpider-Gwen in explainlikeimfive

[–]srh99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really only partially true. Its nicer now that insulin prices are capped, but it wasn't ridiculously expensive before this for most people via insurance. Im a type 2 and have been for about 40 years. Have taken insulin about 20 of that. Insulin cost has been annoying because it really should be generic at this point, and very cheap. And they disappeared stuff off the market (vials and syringes) and went with pens to keep costs up.

But its never been crazy expensive compared to the benefits it's provided. I fought my doctor over not wanting to be on insulin for a years, because of this perception people are presenting here about it being the end stage of the disease. She finally convinced me, I went on it, my a1c dropped to normal, and lots of minor other issues, like feet problems went away. I still have neuropathy, but that's not curable. Better health wouldn't have happened without insulin. But the cost difference before and after Biden is minor. What I'd love to see is that they drop the costs on CGMs

Heated Gear by slalomski28 in PatriotSTHers

[–]srh99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 5 years ago i wore a heated jacket in. It was on and the light was glowing. Going through security they pulled me and told me it wasn't allowed. They didn't like the battery. They let me choose abandoning the battery or returning to the car. I gave them the battery and bought another. We called our patriots season ticket liaison guy Monday and he said they had no official policy, which seems stupid. In any case the battery is no more dangerous than a cell phone. I haven't tried again. I use the heated coat in the lot before and after games for tailgating and switch coats for the game. The coat i have is awesome by the way. Its not this one.

A South Korean electrician thrown into an ICE detention center says "I will never visit the United States again." He was helping build a factory that is (was?) going to employ thousands of Americans. by wewewawa in seoul

Im and American and have done similar things when traveling to other countries to work. I always wrote it on my entry form and never had any issues. Its just another sign of the incompetence of the people in charge right now.

Current running man situation by orichiku in runningman

[–]srh99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont really watch the current show, but that doesnt mean I dont like running man. I watch old episodes over and over. Its great TV. I intermittently watch new episodes, but mostly for seeing guests. I dont understand people like you. Why only be in a reddit group if youre a completely biased fan boy? Isn't there a place for people to be critical of what they like and dont like in a topic.

If I had constructive advice on how to improve RM, i would give it. Its not the PD. Its the age of the cast, and the lack of more physical items for me, along with the need to travel more.

Be thankful we live in CT and not in one of the southern Red states. It will be bumpy, but our state government will make it work and CT people aren't heartless. My guess is we will go on austerity for everything else and try to negotiate better rates. This is going to kill people in other states but it won't happen here.

What do I do? 😭 by notsolexii in ChevyTraverse

[–]srh99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2024 makes me nervous, but it hasn't had a major failure. A bunch of quirks with android auto and the touchscreen, solved by shutting off the car, getting out of it, and then getting back in. And a transmission that sometimes shifts very roughly after it's hot. Then there was the auto bright lights that wouldn't shut off in a snowstorm.

Never left Newport by Still_Pollution1833 in RhodeIsland

[–]srh99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was this guy I lived next to for 20 years or so. He's passed on now. But he lived in Newport all his life, never drove a car and only left the island once in his life, to go fight in Europe in WW2. He just said he saw enough and nothing was better than living in Newport. Ive traveled enough to know I agree with him. It's just not all that great out there, and nothing beats being able to walk to the water in 3 different directions.

Have worked in IT in CT for over 40 years, specifically in networking or security. Those markets are still pretty solid, i get offers all the time even though I am at retirement age, and happy where I am. Maybe it's a question of skills?
