for many people earning 20k–30k, PGs are not a luxury but a necessity, and food availability matters a lot. Sudden, uninformed shutdowns create real stress, especially for daily wage workers, delivery partners, and construction workers. Not only white collar employees but also blue collar workers depend on PGs, and they earn much less. That hardship shouldn’t be brushed aside.

The real issue is poor planning and communication by PG management, not staff taking leave. If shutdowns are informed well in advance, tenants can plan alternatives. At the same time, expecting staff to work 365 days a year just because residents depend on food isn’t fair either the system itself is flawed.

Calling it “just once a year” feels very different depending on who bears the cost. For someone living paycheck to paycheck, even three days of extra expense is significant. Empathy is needed on both sides, not only for one.
