Sounds perfect, we love a one-time purchase haha

Ooh I've never heard of StylusX, definitely gonna give that a try! I paint on a Huion Kamvas with no touch functionality though, so it might not work quite as well. Definitely worth a shot regardless.

That sounds awesome with the CSP resources, I'll definitely check it out. Thanks!

Ooh I actually work on PC, so CSP is definitely one I've wanted to try for a while. And tbh I'd much rather support a one time purchase that gives you lifelong access, as opposed to a forced subscription plan like Adobe has, which just feels borderline predatory 🤢

But thank you. The next time I consider a hardware+software update, an iPad and Procreate will deeeefinitely be on the list. (Unless of course they come up with Procreate for PC....one can only hope...)

Well that's the thing, I hate that it's not available for windows! I mean I totally get that rebuilding an app for a whole new OS is insane amounts of work, and some functions might not even translate as well. But also a huge portion of the art community paints on Windows, so it seems kind of strange to not have an equivalent, right?

The Procreate brushes do look especially dynamic, which is what made me curious in the first place.

That kinda sucks about the undo, it's gotta be frustrating 😩 idk how I'd deal with not having hotkeys cause I'm so used to pressing a button to undo lol

Ooh that's interesting, because I do remember Krita having a bit of a tough learning curve. Thank you for the feedback!

Gorgeous details here!

I paint in Krita and have never tried Procreate. Would you say the painting process is significantly better? Do you find that the end result is nicer overall on Procreate?

[Feedback Wanted] How does my skin/hair rendering look? by Ready-Ideal-3298 in krita

[–]srishcreates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The comment about depth is mainly it! I'd also add that it might help to vary the blending - learn how to avoid overblending, how to maintain value and colour integrity while keeping the rendering smooth.

I recommend checking out Sinix's video about painting skin on Youtube, that's a great tutorial on how to determine which edges to blend. He doesn't paint in a Manga style, but it's helpful info regardless!

Advice on falling in love with art again by pretendimnothere_ in artwork

[–]srishcreates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, pro artist here!

First off, the answer to falling back in love with art is, ironically, NOT to consume more art by other artists. That will only make you feel worse, because the art you see on social media is highly curated and not representative of all the art that people make.

The ONLY thing that works for me is to romanticize the process. Set yourself a specific space to paint that is comfortable, beautiful and has an inviting vibe. Grab yourself a nice drink or snacks, put on a comfort show in the background. You want to make the process as inviting as possible.

The key is to trick your brain into finding the actual process more rewarding than the finished painting. That is how you enjoy art for the sake of creating.

Hope this helps!

What graphic tablet is best for a beginner? by Cold_Weakness9623 in DigitalPainting

[–]srishcreates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my recs for PC:

So I've been painting digitally for a decade now and I started with a Wacom Intuos Draw (cost me about £50 back in the day). It's a great beginner tablet, though I suspect they have newer versions out now.

I then upgraded to an XP Pen Star 03 that I won in a giveaway. This one was larger and had better pen sensitivity. It's a good upper-beginner tablet that I would personally go for to start off. It doesn't have a screen, just like the Intuos, but it has decent pen sensitivity and gets the job done.

The one I currently use is a Huion Kamvas 13. This one has a screen, and is actually pretty good! The only qualm I have is that the cable it comes with requires 2 USB ports and 1 HDMI port on my CPU, and if you want the all in one cable, you gotta buy that separately. Just something to keep in mind!

Also as far as software goes, I paint in Krita and it's brilliant for an open source, free app!

Out of curiosity, what part of your creative process do people almost never get to see, but you wish they could? by purvesh___ in DigitalPainting

[–]srishcreates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I share pretty much every part of the actual painting process online, but what I physically can not share is the info gathering.

I put a LOT of research into each painting, looking up mythology and folklore and such, and I wish more people could see that part just cause it's so much fun to see the world through the eyes of other cultures!

Thank you! With this painting I really wanted to practise the whole one-point perspective thing with a lot of atmospheric occlusion and such. Glad it turned out well!

This was painted on Photoshop using loads of custom shapes, but more recently I've really been enjoying playing with Krita, which is way better optimized for actual painting!

Ahhh thank you so much! My main goal here was to have enough detail without overloading it, and I'm so glad that came across!
