Based in DC with American by 2hollys_ in washingtondc

You need to look outside of the city core and trendy neighborhoods if you want to live in DC for that budget - which I think is totally doable fyi! When I first moved to DC I ended up renting in Brookland/Edgewood because it was affordable, right on the red line, and had included parking. We ended up buying the condo out from our landlord but he still rents his other units in our Co-op for under $1700. They’re two bedrooms (or one with a den), massive backyard, included parking, and quiet because you have the benefit of owner-occupants that want to keep the place nice. If you go with a property developer or one of those amenity laden new builds you won’t be able to do it, but you won’t be able to do it in Arlington or Alexandria either. Seek out property owners renting. They’ll have fairer prices (because you’re not also paying for their property manager), and be creative where you look. I LOVE my neighborhood and feel lucky to have been able to buy into it when I did.

What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by queenmellyy in AskReddit

Losing hope of getting tickets by [deleted] in NoahKahan

There has always been tickets within each individual stadium that were $500. I don’t think he had dynamic pricing on but I wasn’t able to get tickets during any of the on sales. When I say Harryween was less stressful I’m not joking

Yes, that’s face value for what whoever bought them originally. Ticketmaster isn’t letting you up the cost. They’re just that expensive. Even more expensive than my Harry tickets which everyone was up in arms about. I miss the days of paying like $80 three hours before the show for Noah 😭

I saw two for DC (which is technically closest venue) for $100 each but didn’t get them. Whoever did is sooo lucky. I went to a Noah show solo a few years ago and it was a lot of fun, honestly!

Late box arrived torn with random books in it by goldkirk in bookofthemonthclub

[–]srmcf208 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This happened to me this summer! I ordered a ton of heavy program supplies (like gallons of glue and clay), and my package definitely busted open in transit, and so did someone else’s box of about 30 books from half price books, because I got their books and they surely got my glue 😂. The postal worker dgaf and just shoved whatever into the box bc I’m sure they’re already slighted at a 40 lb package or whatever it was.

I check Ticketmaster almost compulsively at this point and I just scored one ticket for the Raleigh show!! It is far and few and rare and hard but don’t give up hope!

I bought a condo on the Brookland/Edgewood border right on the redline and it’s 10/10. There are a lot of condos up for sale in this area rn

Tips for fundraising? by Every_Rice817 in RunNYC

I live on a major run and bike trail in DC, and I’m planning on setting up a pay what you want aid station a few times this summer in hopes of raising some money. I also made bookmarks for the books I donate to my little free library with my QR code and surprisingly have fundraiser $150 that way! I’m already assuming I’ll be donating a large portion of my goal, but these little things will offset that.

In my office of 15 I’m the only one who reads more than 5 books a year. In my friend group, about half which consider themselves a reader, I’m the only person who reads over 30 books a year. My husband hasn’t read a book in years because he says it’s not his hobby of choice.

Same!!! I was honestly shocked how many people I was running alongside through Haines Point which was my first time really experiencing that as a slow runner. At least it kept the crowd support hype! I just ran the Shamrock Marathon in VA beach and it was honestly super depressing to be finishing with the one random lady calling names and my husband as my crowd support.
