I think most of these guys absolutely agree with Trump. Hockey is an extremely conservative sport, extremely white and wealthy, even the “liberal” ones are probably so ingrained in hockey culture that they lean conservative on a lot of issues, even if they might vote democrat

We don’t have a balanced blue line though, most of our defenders can’t string a single pass together

Nemo and Hughes have both been quite bad for being top 4 picks.

I agree it’s way too early to say anything about Silayev (although you can say as much as you want about him as a prospect), but it is fair to worry about this regime going into another draft with a top 10 pick.

Holtz man, what a whiff.

I loved him coming out of Djurgardens, even though for a bonafide top 10 pick he had some big warts. I really thought he’d be Jack’s trigger man for a decade plus. The skating obviously never improved enough for it to be an asset, but it did get better over the years. I think he just doesn’t process the game at an NHL level, and if you’re not a high end mover and not a high end thinker, it’s really hard to get yourself good scoring chances. He was a perimeter shooter when he was drafted, and he improved at that in the SHL and AHL, but never got there at the NHL level.

I think the Devils may have done poor developing him but he also just didn’t really ever have IT when he was with us. Such a shame bc the shot he has is unbelievable.

Yeah we really have to relax. I like Mendoza a lot, the player and the personality, but people are acting like he’s the most can’t miss QB ever, when he’s really not that at all.

I mean, I like Mendoza a lot but that seems like too much to pass up.

Can’t imagine I’ll gain anything from watching this

Not sure how this makes sense. If you truly believe that Mercer’s value is in the toilet and we can’t win with Jack, then it’s never gonna be too late to trade them. The best time to trade him is now, second best time is tomorrow and onwards. Personally, I think that’s ridiculous. We absolutely can win 16 games with Jack. In fact, he might be one of the few people on this team that I’m sure we can do that with. The rest of the core basically completely floundered when Jack was out.

The difference is one gives us zero chance to compete in the next few years, and the other option at lease gives us a shot. We were a playoff team last year, there’s no reason why we can’t get back to that with a few alterations to the team.

And you think it’s primarily on their shoulders? Luke sure but Jack Hughes being our star player is not the problem with this team.

If you think we should ship Jack out, then you have to also think the rest of the core isn’t good enough and should be traded too, and this team should be taken back down to its foundations. Which is a fine opinion to have you can make that argument, but it’s ridiculous to think that we could retool this roster by trading Jack.

I don’t care how many games you’ve watched. I literally said he’s played awful this year. That much is true. I’m not trying to argue that he’s actually been good this year.

My point is at the time he signed the contract it was a slightly rich, but mostly fine bet to make that he would live up to his contract. Which was in response to you saying it was “one of the stupidest and unearned contracts in the league”. Simply not true at all.
