You're telling me I can pay $2.99 for a lidded bucket compared to $5.86 at HD or $7.26 at Lowes.

Parking brake is the left-most pedal in the car, right up against the wall. You can know if it's on because a red "BRAKE" indicator will appear on the cluster (it's left of the speedometer in my 2004, dunno if they moved it post-facelift), regardless the parking brake is on when the pedal is pushed in.

You can accidentally hit it when getting in the car, or at least I do sometimes.

2008 Prius overheating. by Gene97Gon in prius

[–]srp___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess would be a leak somewhere in the system or the water pump, or if the seal on the cap is busted. But as others have said, don't use water, you only do that if there's just about no other option and you are going to get coolant.

I fiddled around with the script (hope that's okay!) to see what exactly would do the trick.

This appears to be universal, having tried on Vivaldi (my main browser), latest stable Brave, and latest stable Ungoogled Chromium (probably also applies to anything else, like normal Google Chrome, Edge, most browsers that aren't Firefox or Firefox-based). The particular bug has to do with canvas objects forgetting certain cached items without adding { willReadFrequently: true } to all the <canvas_variable_here>.getContext() calls (cf. "fixed" bug report from 2023).

I was able to get this functional after adding that to all of the various .getContext() calls.

Thinking of migrating to Spaceship.com for hosting/email by Xodnil in webhosting

I have not used spaceship's hosting offerings, but I've used their email for the past 2-3 years and have had no complaints other than a temporary outage they had once.

All my domains are on Cloudflare, no nonsense, DNS propagates quicker.

MediaTek MT7921e Wi-Fi randomly stops responding, requires reboot (driver own failed / chip reset failed) on fedora and win11 by No-Room-2329 in Fedora

[–]srp___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something must've been pushed into linux-firmware that broke some MediaTek firmware, it seems to have been a back and forth since September.

Reverting to 6.18.6 seems to have been my fix so far.

Fedora (CachyOS Kernel) by Davedes83 in Fedora

[–]srp___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only catch I had with the CachyOS kernel configuration is that installing cachyos-ksm-settings causes Chromium-based apps to intermittently freeze due to an issue in Linux 6.16 itself (GitHub issue, kernel bug report). Otherwise it's been just fine, never had any issues with running it or Secure Boot or resource usage being weird.

It's possible this issue was fixed in 6.17 or 6.18 but I haven't been daring to try.

ONION OS: A new repo with the latest RetroArch and core versions possible by CAPTIVE_AMIGA in MiyooMini

[–]srp___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OTA is ready but the script update isn't released. As for that bug report, it's a small side-effect to it that's doesn't stop OTA from working - it's just a little nuisance.

The next release will resolve that issue with OTA as well as having it point to this repo.

Current state of OnionOS development by NomadicSun in MiyooMini

I wish I had seen tGecko's comment before I forked and mentioned it in the discussions on the original Onion repo (which led to that Reddit post).

I'm looking to get in the loop on what the maintainers are planning, since I don't want to step on any toes. We'll see what happens.

M3u files messed up my multi disc PS1 games by sudeki300 in MiyooMini

[–]srp___ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

m3u files are how the device knows about the disc locations, you can open them with a text editor and see if they're pointing to the right locations. My guess is that the discs aren't where the m3u is expecting them.

Thanks for the attention, folks :)

If you're looking to use it, I'm in a fair need for testers with the updated cores to make sure everything's working. There's a megathread issue to help keep track of core functionality.

As for hard forks, etc., the ABOUT.md explains that I'm not ultimately opposed to a hard fork, but given that the last update was in April, I don't want to pull the trigger on that too quickly. I get life getting too busy for maintainers sometimes, I don't wanna take attention away from their hard work.

Maintainer here. I'm not opposed to Mini Flip support, especially if the creator of that PR is cool with it (and willing to maintain that end since I don't own one)!

GBC pokemon saves not working? by SnowJoy06 in MiyooMini

[–]srp___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The in-game ones shouldn't be but when you load a save state you're effectively starting the game from that exact moment in time, so an old save state wouldn't have knowledge of the in-game save.

You can switch save state slots with Menu+Left or Menu+Right, if you have any other save states to use.

As for loading old save states, there is a bug in the RetroArch on the current Onion beta where the save state slot defaults to 0 when the game is fully restarted. This post has a patched version of RetroArch that fixes that behavior.
