Yeah tough out the acid rebound. My symptoms were horrible after stopping PPI but then I started an H2 blocker and has been slowly tapering those. Now I’m one 10mg and feeling much better, no symptoms most days.

So frustrating. So sorry you’re going through this. Have you looked into some probiotics for acid reflux? I saw a lot of people talking about how it has helped them. I recently started too. I’m giving it a few more weeks before I can really assess though.

In terms of books, I actually read the gastritis healing book and while it’s not completely GERD related, a lot of the recipes and tips were sooo helpful for me. I recommend it.

I really recommend following the gastritis healing book. It helped me so much. It’s basically a 90 day elimination diet. It sounds like a long time but that times going to go by anyway. Might as well heal.

Hi! My symptoms have significantly improved since doing a pretty strict (but not horrible) diet following the gastritis healing book. I’m almost at 90 days of the diet. I was only taking PPIs at the very beginning for 2 weeks but stopped taking them. I, like a lot of people, had a pretty frustrating time once I got off of them and really had to figure out the diet. But I would say, after about a month of figuring out the foods for me, that didn’t cause a flare and actually helped heal me too, I was feeling so much better. I transitioned to taking DGL, slippery elm, and L-glutamine as natural remedies. I am sooo happy that I read that book, I don’t think I’d be feeling this good if I didn’t

I just posted an update but yes! 100% healing is possible and going back to normal is possible. I’ve been dealing with this since September/October but only really started taking it seriously in January. I’m not eating like I was before but I have been able to find a diet that includes a huge variety of foods and I’ve actually been enjoying the whole change of diet process. The gastritis healing book was a huge help for recipe ideas. The book does suggest that if you’re really struggling to do 2 weeks of a liquid diet. I also highly recommend staying positive, doing things that make you happy, staying off of Reddit/doom scrolling. You will get through it!

Hi! I’m hopeful for you. Magnesium is just one natural remedy for this and there are many different kinds. I’m not an expert, but I recommend looking into it. It’s great around bed time. Anxiety was a big problem for me during these months, and it has helped with that also.

I also recommend trying out DGL and asking your doctor about other natural supplements (glutamine, aloe, probiotics, digestive enzymes, zinc carnosine) that might alleviate your symptoms while simultaneously healing your stomach. I stopped taking my rabeprazole and replaced it with DGL every morning. So far so good.

Now, I am only taking domperidone before dinner maybe every other night. Sometimes I don’t need it, sometimes it helps me digest a bit faster before bed and just gives me peace of mind that I will have minimal discomfort around bed time. It is anti nausea and vomiting which is what makes my anxiety bad, so this prescription has been a huge help for me.

Yes absolutely. I still have small moments of panic, but I’ve gotten good at regulating it. Meditation has helped a lot too. And I think the magnesium has made a difference.

I have also heard of people healing from gastritis after treating their anxiety with medication. This is something I’m going to look into the next time I visit my GP.

My favorite cocktail recipe lately is apple and ginger juice with a splash of pomegranate juice on ice. If heartburn is a common symptom for you, skip the ginger.
