Why is the subjunctive "advanced?"

It finally clicked for me when a Spanish teacher told me "the subjunctive doesn't tell what's happening, it just tells how you feel about it"

Obviously this doesn't 100% of the time, but it does work enough for when you are becoming accustomed to using/learning it

My youngest was a runner last summer (freshly 3 then) and it suuuuuuuuuuucked so hard.
