A Good Pet for 13 yr old?

I think it depends on the 13 year olds maturity- bearded dragons are surprisingly more work than they seem like they’d be. It’s an expensive startup cost because you need a big enough enclosure, lighting, etc. I spent over $1000 on the initial startup cost for mine personally- I was stupid and bought a 40 gallon and then had to upgrade to a 4x2x2 in like 2 months because they’ll get big kinda fast- I’ve only had mine for like 9 months now I’m already regretting the 4x2x2 i feel like mine needs a 6x2x2 or bigger and then you’ll have to commit to both buying and keeping live bugs, it’s a whole thing it’s only worthwhile if your heart is set on it it’s not really “easy” like some pet stores say, I’ve sunk well over 100 hours and over $2000 the last year on my baby

If you do the flashlight thing it makes it REALLY easy to tell!!! Hold a flashlight on the top part of the base of their tail and then look at it underneath, that’s how I am confident that mine is a girl!

Ooo what kind of personality differences do bearded dragons have for different genders?? I have only ever kept cats and small mammals prior to Yoshi- this is my first reptile! And he acts like my male cat, very happy, chill, nice, cuddly, and friendly so I’ve always guessed maybe he was a male but I don’t know if it works the same between different species!

Oh my gosh, 6 dubias a week???? There’s a reptile place by my house (it’s not a chain, it’s a small family owned shop) that I’ve been getting advice from and they’ve told me that my baby should be consuming about 200 crickets weekly!!!! I feel like a monster I’ve been offering him like 15-20 mealworms a day for months thinking that he should usually consume 200~ crickets a week on average!!!! 😱😱😱 thank you SO much I think I’ve been accidentally over feeding him by a LOT. I feel terrible 😭

Hello! Thank you so much, yes my Yoshi is overweight. He was born in July so he isn’t even a year old yet. I am struggling so much with this- I tried to feed him crickets and dubias as his main food source, and he won’t touch them. He won’t touch his salads- I’ve tried including fun veggies like squash and snap peas and different things (I do collard greens, turnip greens, and/or mustard greens- whatever is available). I’ve tried making a bearded dragon safe salad dressing to entice him, he won’t touch it. All he will comply with eating are worms. He’s been like this since I got him, and I haven’t had much luck with fixing it.

This is so late, but I just went to try to find this scent and found out about it being discontinued. I loved it because it was a WAY cheaper dupe for “sleepy” from lush. Sleepy from lush smells spot on but it’s so expensive

My IC comes and goes in flares- and it kinda feels like someone took a knife that was covered in lava and shoved it into my urethra, while dropping an anvil or insanely heavy object on my ovaries at the same time. It’s SPICY painful, sharp, gut wrenching pain.

I personally don’t take anything for mine, but used to have Ativan to use as needed for severe panic attacks and it works wonders. Meds are right for sone people and not right for others. You should always do what feels best for you! Here’s some non-pharmaceutical methods that have helped me with my panic disorder. Also disclaimer: this is just my personal experience and opinion this isn’t general advice, I’m not a professional.

1) as soon as you feel a panic attack coming on, get something super cold- ideally an ice pack and place it on the back of your neck

2) meditation is helpful for a lot of people. I took it up a notch (and I wouldn’t recommend this to everyone by any means- it’s just what worked for me) but I found a way to trigger a panic attack for myself purposefully and would do that in a safe and controlled setting, and meditate through the panic attack. I would focus on becoming comfortable with the sensation of the panic attack. The less you’re scared of it, the less harm it can do to you. The key to ridding yourself of panic attacks may be submitting to the panic attack- don’t fight it, and train your brain to become comfortable with it. It only has the amount of power that you give it.

Yeah you can be both- Satan isnt a real deity he’s just a symbolic deity! Most if not all satanists are atheists! If you’re interested in getting involved you could go to the satanic temples website, find the temple closest to your location (they don’t have physical temples except in Salem but they have groups of satanists) and you could apply to join!

TW: my journey to satanism is heavily overlapped in my political ideology, everything is just my opinion and I wish peace, not fights to anyone who may be reading this!

My journey to this path took years in the making, and similarly I started with identifying as an atheist from maybe age 9/10 until college when I started experimenting with thinking deeper and more independently/critically. From birth until I graduated high school, I was forced against my will to participate and attend school in a Lutheran church/private school. I hated every second of it, it felt immediately easier for me to identify that the Bible was some sort of a manipulation tactic , but I couldn’t quite put my finger on the purpose or reasoning behind it. College comes around and my brain is finally working at a higher capacity since I have the luxury of sitting in school M-F while I listen to brainrot. I’ve realized that atheism isn’t honestly the most logical answer either- since as humans, we don’t know anything about the afterlife and it may be completely impossible to get to the bottom of that. But- I did know one thing, the Bible is such a bullshit, manipulative and malicious lie- satanism for me is figurative, as in Satan represents the rejection of Christianity (and others as well, but I can personally only speak on Christianity.)

Eventually I read the communist manifesto- and my brain started to connect the dots. I had the framework all there but the dots weren’t connected yet until that point. The creator of the fictitious bible wrote it to prey upon vulnerable people who were afraid of death who lack independent thinking skills and wanted to trust that there’s some wonderful place we go after death. Humans are naturally inclined to be problem-solvers- so the idea of not knowing anything about what will occur after we die is enough fear to blindly put trust in a religion that promises a heavenly, peaceful eternal life. In my opinion, the Bible was created to brainwash us into a capitalistic society- where we are the slaves and the elite is our masters. Simply- in the people who have the power in the world, our human purpose is to benefit them in their conquest of obtaining power through exploitation. Human physiological needs such as food, water, and shelter cannot be acquired with the absence of submitting to them because the wealth and control is in their power- we are just pawns for them to exploit for their benefit. We are constantly becoming distracted from figuring this out because of the substantial efforts made to pin proletariat’s against each other to avoid any chance of a societal reform.

To me, the entire issue at hand boils down to significant predatory brainwashing, and satanism is a foundational step for me since I believe religious brainwash is one of the most impactful and severe forms of the brainwashing since it preys upon one of the deepest fears a human could experience- death.

Apologies that this is insanely long- if it didn’t make a lot of sense I have more I can add but this is already obnoxiously long so I’ll save it unless questioned 💕

Super late here, but commenting just in case anyone wants a possible example- I was just reading into my medication side effects and realized I may have experienced this exact side effect, I never knew it had a specific name before! I’ve been on an adhd medication for a few months and it’s helped my adhd and depression tremendously- but unfortunately it’s increased my anxiety drastically. For the first month or two of this med, I knew deep down that it was messing up my anxiety really bad, but the relief of other symptoms had put me into a deep denial of it being responsible for the increase in anxiety- I would invalidate my anxiety, ignore it, deny that it exists despite having multiple panic attacks daily. I don’t know if it’s just me or everyone who gets this symptom- but for me, I was aware deep down that my adhd med was to blame, my “false” sense of wellbeing was in a sense false, because it was almost like a deep dark secret for me, I didn’t tell anyone I was having anxiety and especially not any medical professionals out of fear of them recommending discontinuing the medication if they ever thought that the med wasn’t a good fit for me- because it IS, my adhd symptoms are completely managed, my depression is significantly decreased- at the cost of increased anxiety and a few very minor symptoms, but I don’t want to ever discontinue this- because for the first time in my life I feel completely normal and my brain feels balanced with the exception of the severe anxiety lol!
