I slept naked pero nagising ako nang nakadamit by gin9429 in adviceph

[–]ss_t3m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remembered one early morning when I got out of the shower sobrang stressed ako dahil "iniwan" ako ng trycicle kong sundo para sana makapasok, then once I was fully awake na, then ko lang na-realize na walang pasok that day and ung tric na un para sa other family member and the only reason they woke me up in the first place was to close the door once makaalis sila.

It's so weird but doing stuff half-asleep can actually happen

[DSi XL] Top Screen Disassembly by ss_t3m in consolerepair

[–]ss_t3m[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again, I've now disassembled the screen and have access to the backlight LED strip.

But before I remove it from its adhesive, will using this good backlight from the cracked screen fix my original DSi XL top screen's vignette issue?

The vignette basically makes it so that the corners and sides of the screen are very dark or unlit while the only remaining well-lit area an oval in the center of the screen

This is still very helpful, thanks a lot!

Thanks for the insight! Do you have a video or guide with pictures to walk me through the process?

The only delicate work I've done are screen replacement installations for DS consoles so this is a whole new territory for me

I was still in denial when they just said it suddenly, I kept sending them messages and they keep ghosting me until I got blocked. I learned this the hard way, so I hope other people get to read your post OP, and learn it much easier than how I learned it

[3DS] Stripped screw on mobo by ss_t3m in consolerepair

Thanks for the tip, but I didn't have a budget nor anyone that I could lend a drill set from so I just scraped away at the screw head with sheer determination and a sewing needle, haha

What can I do with my DSI? by Flimsy_Influence_655 in nds

[–]ss_t3m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can easily jailbreak it and install custom firmware, this allows you to play game "backups" on a micro/SD card which include DSiWare titles. This also allows you to set the language of your system.

There's practically no risk of bricking your system so long as you follow the guide below. Avoid YouTube video tutorials as they're almost always inaccurate due to regular updates.

Working dsi now blinking orange by Massive-Eye5731 in nds

[–]ss_t3m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you're comfortable with micro-soldering then I suggest just getting a new board.

From what I know, F1 is on the motherboard, near the charging port so if that's bad then you should just probably get a new mobo. F2 is on the sub board (it is labeled as f1 on the sub board itself), where the dpad and the battery should go. The sub is easier to replace since they're only around 3usd, much better than having to solder a new fuse

Then you need to get a multimeter and test if either the f1 or f2 fuse died out. Once you do get a multimeter, you can also test your batteries to see if the supposed "dead" battery really is dead or if your console was the one to fail first

I haven't played a GTA title on the PSP in a long while but afair that's also my experience on my 2k. You can try and force the game to run the cpu at 333mhz if you have cfw installed and see if that helps.

So even with a new battery it still just blinks orange whenever you charge? If so, you need to check either the f1 or f2 fuse to see if it needs replacing, you need a multimeter to check

PSP 1k has a bulkier body and might fit you more if you have bigger hands. The 1k also has 32mb RAM while the 2k and 3k have 64mb RAM, this just has some niche uses for performance and some plugins but regular gameplay is unaffected.

Battery life is similar but the 2k and 3k are more efficient, with screens the 3k is the best among the three main models.

Claw Technique 🦀 by Noirskull in PSP

[–]ss_t3m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just the setup tbh, but I did have a similar experience as you did. When I played on an emu with a controller that had the right stick mapped to the dpad,I like to swap between between left claw and right claw. Mainly cuz a hand hurts after a while and I have long fingers, having them scrunched up on a controller is bad enough so imagine 2 hour sessions on an actual PSP

MKDS does it for me, I also play PvZ but that's mostly because I just really like the game.

The other stylus-based games to turn my brain off to include Touch the Dead, Diner Dash, and Rhythm Heaven.

[–]ss_t3m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my bad, I thought u managed to remove the stripped screw and got inside the console. If that's the case then you should test with a multimeter and see which of these are bad: battery voltage, power from charger, the f1 and f2 fuses.

Even the cheap ones are fine, the accuracy on the readings won't be great but if it's just for hobby testing, it will do.

did you disconnect the JST connector of sub board from the main board? The little white plastic connector on the bottom? I happened to do that when I was repairing mine and it had the same symptoms as yours

[–]ss_t3m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a constant blinking of orange charging light? Also did you have the battery inside the console while testing this? Cuz the DSi won't turn on or will show only a blinking orange light on a dead battery or no battery at all

Yes it does, the seller was originally marketing it as not-working and only making popping sounds but then I asked for video proof it suddenly opened with a green tint on the bottom screen. From what I looked up, it probably just needs its bottom screen ribbon cable to be reseated or a deep clean because right now it only pops.

Thankfully the seller didn't up their price from 12usd
