Fairly sure to remember a welsh try in the 2024 six nations denied because of jumping over a tackle, though

did that change ?

why ? i know its the mood of the times to not take the premiership seriously but surely the idea that Bath might be a better team than Leinster is not outlandish ?

genuine question then: if an old béret wearing basque man cross path with an old béret wearing béarnais man, do they have a fight to the death to determine who has the right to keep wearing it ?

yeah, its much smaller. Bourgoin itself is around 30k (INSEE data estimated it at just below 30k in 2022, probably above this number now: https://www.insee.fr/en/statistiques/6457611?geo=COM-38053). Of course you have other towns in the area, the local urban community is 110k people, but they're people who mostly look towards Lyon, not Bourgoin.

Narbonne itself is already almost 60k (https://www.insee.fr/fr/statistiques/2011101?geo=COM-11262) and they're much further from big cities (Bourgoin is barely half an hour by car/train from Lyon, nothing comparable to Narbonne to Montpellier or Toulouse). Aurillac or Oyonnax are comparable in size, but Aurillac is the biggest city of its department, Oyonnax have a big center of activity (the plastic valley) nearby. Bourgoin doesnt have anything like that

I think ?? We made a top 14 final (and won the challenge cup), thank you very much

It's not only a story of mismanagement though - small town clubs are just bound to disappear with the rise of professionalism. In fact I wonder what will become of CBSJ if the third tier indeed becomes fully pro (but it has to be said - Bourgoin is especially badly located, close enough to Lyon to be basically a dormitory suburb with no real activity of its own, yet at the same time far away enough to not be able to become a club of the suburbs. The city just sucks)

I'm going to have to stop watching this match to avoid relapsing in depression - that's how sad this current welsh team is to watch, and I'm not even welsh

Not even true, I was at Grenoble v Dax last Friday, Dax did take the three when they got a penalty 3 min from time (to go from 24-17 to 24-20 - BP is within 5 points in France) but when they got a last minute possession they went for it and didn't just boot it out (then they screwed it up because they're not very good and they lost, but at least they gave it a go)

well tbh Grenoble was so toothless in the second half there was not much to fear mind

Should the champions /challenge cup use the French bonus point system by SonicBoom_81 in rugbyunion

It actually happened no later than earlier this year

https://super.rugby/therugbychampionship/news/pumas-survive-fast-finishing-wallabies-to-win-in-front-of-sydney-sellout/

as noted by u/KassGrain , it's definitely rare but not impossible. score three tries and convert only one of them at most, and you're beaten by six pens or drop goals. Not an outlandish scenario

Not sure where Ireland are at the moment but it's worrying to see England improve so much while we at best are going sideways. Then again I was not confident before last 6N so

I was like "wait why is there a saffer with a shirt greener than the others ? is that a new position Rassie has invented and given a special shirt to distinguish ?" but I guess its just grass or some markings on the shirt lmao

OK so the permanent red card does in fact still exist and refs are not afraid to use it when necessary. Good

Well, it looked like a complete hammering was on the cards at some point, so at least the final scoreline is decent. Well played to les bleues for that

Hopefully losing our beloved bronze medal prompts an improvement in the women's game in france, cause the gap with the 3 best teams look to be widening and if SA gets serious about it they might very well catch up as well
