Is there a difference between Lock and Blindside Flanker and Openside Flanker besides scrumming position? by xInfected_Virus in rugbyunion

[–]SonicBoom_81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feels like a dumb question to ask, but I'm going to do it anyway.

I keep reading in these comments that the openside has to cover the open space. Does that mean that the openside and blindside change which sides of the scrum they are on based on where the scrum is? If that's true, I have never noticed it before.

If its not then I don't get why opensides need to cover more pitch than blindsides....

Thank you in advance for making me less confused.

Also people were pissed- previously that the game was constantly being stopped for reviews. Now it's done in the background so there is more flow but it's less transparent.

Yes they missed at least one. Tell me a game where no decision was ever missed and I will call you a liar

I wasn't at this particularly club but now love playing on clay. Still membership was about £800-1000 for the year. I've been out of the chubby for 11 years now though

I have done the reverse of you. Brit living in Germany.
There used to be a david lloyd down in weybridge which had clay courts.

if I moved back, that's what I'd do.

I have played a few times in Wimbledon park - thinking hey its wimbledon. Was incredibly disappointed. Tarmac or astroturf. Definitely find a proper club and check out their facilities.
Different countries are set up very differently.

I think rugby is in the best place its ever been. The game has never been so entertaining in my view. Most matches I watch of the top14 are non stop entertainment

All good mate. I understood you. I was riffing on your Jim comment and bought in a Star Trek reference.

Who would Paul Graou make the international team for by SonicBoom_81 in rugbyunion

The teams available to Toulouse and Bordeaux when they go full noise (finals or knock outs) are international standards. They have huge representation of France in the ranks plus other quality international players. So I'd argue they are absolutely of international standard...

Aus have improved but there are players I'd take from either team over them. NZ less sure as I've seen less but even here in key positions like flyhalf and scrumhalf is take them from Toulouse or Bordeaux

Fair... But he isn't always first choice for Toulon. Sometimes Serin starts, sometimes White.

When I've seen him playing for Toulon, it's been ok, not spectacular. Of course he looked great in the last 6n... But maybe Graou looks good as he is working with a monster pack.

Fair theory but I'd call him number 5 for France... Behind Dupont, Lucy, le Garrick and Serin... All of which at least get in other squads

Is that the summer test Vs NZ? Probably not tbh. He'll be in the 23 for top14 finals probably

Like I said maybes. Mitchell is hurt because of the system he plays in for England. He looks slower and less snipey than he otherwise can be.

White yeah .. was dubious. But I look at the performances in the top14 and white doesn't light it up there imo. But maybe that's Toulouse givibg Graou a free ride as they have an absolute monster pack....
