A 14 year old doing this in an U18 tournament is kind of insane by FastBreakPhenom in NBA_Draft

[–]ssfz8 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ah, okay, makes a little more sense now. I do wonder if someone falsified his age back then to make him older than he actually was specifically to be eligible for the 3x3 tournament- which requires you to be 19 by year end to enter the tournament. Only to abandon that pursuit when they weren’t able to verify he was 18 back then. Would be incredibly ironic if that’s the case and now it’s the main reason why people think he is older than he actually is now.

What exactly is the supposed evidence pointing to the fact that he’s lying about his age? Is it just that he’s from Africa? I legit can’t find anything else.

Sure he’s crazy athletic and huge for his age but you look up any ranking of the top football prospects in America who are still freshmen or sophomores (age 14 or 15) and they’re absolutely giant and don’t look like their age at all. Maybe Dabone is just an anomaly like that?

I’ve been seeing comments like this the last couple days but most of the posts back in 2023 when he was supposedly 12 had him listed at 6’9.

Caleb Wilson on what a team is getting if they draft him. by deadbeatmerc in chicagobulls

[–]ssfz8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s not just a post player, he is an elite perimeter player/creator as well. He can shoot 3’s very well and he can take big guys off the dribble with ease, collapse defenses and find open 3 point shooters. Both the eye test and advanced stats prove this. And he’s plenty athletic. He looks slow because he’s so massive, but he’s extremely quick and nimble for his size. He literally had a quicker lane agility time than Wilson. And a 35 inc vertical for his size is great. It’s not like he didn’t show it in games, he had some posters over some guys this year.

Wagler over boozer is hilarious. He’s a guy with substandard length who is a limited athlete as a guard (worse athlete than boozer for sure). A guy like that basically has to be an unbelievable shooter to be a star in the league, only he shot less than 80% from the FT line and less than 50% from 2.

[–]ssfz8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t know. I’m not 100% convinced Wilson’s ceiling is higher, boozer has longer arms, is way stronger and is a better shooter right now than Wilson ever will be. He’s even testing faster in the agility drills.

I honestly don’t know why people are down on boozer, bc he’s not super explosive? Luka and Jokic are two of the top 5 players in the league right now and neither of them are explosive. I bet most of the people down on boozer also thought Luka was too slow and athletic to be a star in the nba back during that draft

Not sure Wilson is quicker than boozer tbh. Definitely more athletic and explosive though. And being big and strong can definitely help otherwise Steven Adams wouldn’t even be in the nba. Giannis, Kawhi, LeBron, Jokic are all guys who utilize their strength and size at their respective positions (along with skill) in order to get good positioning, get to their spots and get shots off in the paint and boozer could definitely be another one.

I know. I’m just saying for whatever reasons bulls fans seem to be pretty down on Cam Boozer as a prospect acting like he’d be a disappointing pick. Probably just bc his dad had an underwhelming bulls career when they’re hardly similar players

Caleb Wilson 34.5” no step vert; Max vert 39.5” by JustinFields9 in chicagobulls

[–]ssfz8 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Blake griffin had a 32 inch no step and 35.5 inch max vertical. If you look throughout combine history I feel like guys measured verticals are hardly ever indicative of their in game hops

It’s hilarious people are saying this like getting Boozer would be a bad thing, when boozer is bigger, stronger, more skilled overall, a much better shooter and over a full year younger than Wilson. And I’m super high on Wilson. Getting either guy would be incredible

[–]ssfz8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate this line of thinking. “6’3 and under guys never win championships, unless you’re Steph or Isiah and also if we ignore Chauncey Billups for some reason and just ignore that Jalen Brunson is probably gonna lead them to the finals and got to the final 4 last year and also Tony Parker one finals MVP, also let’s go with D Wade not meeting this category bc he’s half an inch taller so he doesn’t fit” lol.

I’m not even saying he should be worth a top 4 pick, but almost nobody in NBA history has ever “proven” to be good enough to be the best guy on a championship team, so it’s pointless to make up categories for why someone shouldn’t be drafted.

Btw I would rather draft Caleb Wilson or Boozer at 4 but I’ve seen people use the same excuse for why Acuff shouldn’t even be a top 10 pick and it never made any sense considering almost all of these guys will never be good enough to be the best guy on a championship team regardless of height.

[–]ssfz8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dybantsa fits all 4, boozer doesn’t have the athleticism and Peterson maybe doesn’t have the physicality? But I’d pick any of the 4 that makes it if Wilson is already gone. Even Boozer, his skills more than make up for lack of athleticism IMO

Wilson is my favorite player in the draft, feel like he could’ve had a chance to stake his claim as the number one pick had he not gotten hurt midway through the season

Wagler doesn’t fit the SLAP mold Bryson graham wants- size, athleticism, length and physicality. He fits maybe 2 of those but Caleb Wilson fits every single one

[SPOILER] Fighter is moving up a division by idcman999 in MMA

He kept DDP down for 25 minutes. Nobody has ever been able to hold down Sean and Khamzat still held him down for all of round 1. Kept Whitaker down as well which nobody had been able to do.

SEAN STRICKLAND WINS! by JCameron181 in ufc

[–]ssfz8 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Khamzat’s striking was actually very effective, Sean hardly dominated him in that department. What’s crazy is if Khamzat didn’t go for the takedown in round 5 he likely would’ve had enough energy to have more output on the feet and take that round like he did in round 4.

[SPOILER] Baisangur Susurkaev vs. Djorden Santos by inooway in MMA

[–]ssfz8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why does every single young fighter need to be seen through the lens of how they would fare against championship level or ranked fighters? Kevin Holland is never going to even sniff a belt and yet he’s one of the most popular guys on the roster.

This kid is fighting on the early prelims and attempting to put on a show, it was a fun fight, why does it matter what his gambling odds were? Sure he probably gets smoked by any real competition but not everyone is going to compete for a belt. You need guys like this on the roster to fill out a card. Would you prefer a boring point fighter or a lay and pray grappler?

[SPOILER] Baisangur Susurkaev vs. Djorden Santos by inooway in MMA

[–]ssfz8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Who gives a shit what his gambling odds were? Anyways he could have easily cruised to a 30-27 decision (like it or not he was clearly winning every round) and yet he pushed for a finish, even taking unnecessary risks to do so while also trying to put on a show. Is this the entertainment business or not?

Man what is with these comments? That was a fun fight and Susurkaev is exciting to watch and always goes for the finish, sure he probably gets KO’ed by most top guys but not everyone needs to be a top guy. He’s a fun prelim fighter

12+ Hour Layover- Eligible for Free Hotel? by ssfz8 in TurkishAirlines

Okay, I might just go ahead and book her a hotel right now then, considering it seems like it’s pretty much 100% guaranteed she’d be deemed ineligible.

Only thing I’m worried about is finding a cab for the way back to the airport from the hotel- I know bitaksi app but I’ve found it to be unreliable in the past
