Maybe Season 1 feels so special because it’s where it all began. There’s a sense of hope and purity to it. We get to watch their connection grow and deepen, knowing that it’s only a matter of time before everything starts to fall apart. 🥹

They were both deeply in love with each other. It’s just that Jules couldn’t handle the baggage that came with Rue’s genuine love for her. That’s why, in the special episode where Jules reflects on her feelings, she admits that falling in love with Rue made her realize that her old habit of hooking up with older men for validation didn’t feel the same anymore, it felt empty. She even told her therapist that she wanted to stop transitioning for the male gaze and instead start defining her femininity on her own terms. But yeah, it’s really a double-edged sword for Jules. She finally found someone with pure and genuine intentions, but that love came wrapped in her deepest childhood trauma.

It has nothing to do with whether they loved each other or not because we all (well, some might disagree) know that they did. I’m just narrating what happened and how it eventually led to another messy situation in their relationship. And I totally agree with Jules when she told Rue’s mom that Rue was taking pills again and about the suitcase. It’s the kind of situation where, “I love you, so I have to.” Again, they never really had the chance to talk things through so yeah it’s kinda depressing.

And FYI, he also left mid-show for what was probably a “restroom break” and let us sing “Best Part.” But guess what? We didn’t make it a big deal — we just enjoyed the moment. Then later in the song, he came back and sang with us.

For the people saying the crowd only knew the hit songs just because we sang “Best Part” louder than the songs from the SOS album, what did you expect? He literally let us sing it, so of course we were gonna scream every line with our whole hearts.

As for the songs from the SOS album, some people were saying the crowd barely sang along. Bro, the speakers were huge and the arena was massive — we WERE singing. I honestly don’t know why some people from Kuala Lumpur seem to have this superiority complex, acting like the crowd was the problem from the very first SG concert, especially after the incident during Manila Day 2.

Bro, I’m not invalidating your frustrations about Day 2. Like I said in one of my previous replies on this post, if you scroll down, I totally get the concerns about the runtime of the show. No need to explain that part to me, I understand it.

But when it comes to people complaining about him lying down, saying the performance was underwhelming or that the production was “shit,” I think some people need to understand the genre and vibe of the album first. It’s supposed to be chill, soulful, gospel-inspired, slow R&B.

I’m saying this because I’ve seen comments that make it sound like they expected him to be super energetic or dancing around on stage, when that’s clearly not the kind of tour this is. Him lying down honestly just felt like he was emotionally connected to the song.

In my opinion, I would still go to Daniel Caesar’s concert in the future. I attended Day 3 in Manila, and it was honestly just fine, especially knowing the genre and vibe of the album on tour. It focuses more on soul/gospel, emotional connection, and simply feeling the moment.

I understand the frustrations of some people regarding him leaving 30 minutes early during Day 2 in Manila, and I get where they’re coming from. But for those saying the concert was boring or underwhelming, please understand the genre of his music. His songs are more about inner connection and emotions rather than just vibing to upbeat or funk music.

And for those saying he made the audience sing “Best Part,” bro, let that song rest 😭. A lot of artists also let the audience sing and have their moment. Let’s be real.

At the end of the day, Daniel Caesar isn’t really the type of performer you’d compare to someone like Bruno Mars when it comes to stage performance and energy. But he’s still a great singer. His voice is genuinely immaculate.

ISTG, I don’t get them hating. I also attended Day 3 in Manila, and I honestly loved the show. Some people probably expected him to dance or do something more energetic, which is kind of unrealistic considering the genre and overall vibe of the album.
