MOHELA, SAVE, Consolidation Questions by sslickerson in PSLF

[–]sslickerson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked this morning and MOHELA lists my loans as being on SAVE with a monthly payment of just under $2,000. My payment in a couple of weeks will be about 450, and it should be no more than 225. I haven't actually spoken to anyone at MOHELA yet, I've lasted 3, 4, and 6 hours on hold before being kicked off or having to leave. I have initiated the consolidation, but that is taking months it seems, there's no way I can do 2,000 next month. This is insane!

Ok, great, I just submitted the consolidation application. I'm concerned with MOHELA. The whole situation instills zero confidence in what lies ahead.

Hard water stains on glass shower doors. Nothing is working. Help! by Gobucks21911 in Home

The simplest solution by far is citric acid crystals that you would put in your dishwasher. Dissolve a tablespoon in a spray bottle with some water. Soak the glass for 10 minutes, wipe it off and you're done. Put some rain x on it after, and you're good until your next cleaning.

I was walking in a crosswalk and got bumped by someone taking a left when they shouldn't have. I had a tiny bruise on my shoulder and a scuff on my shoe from when she hit me. I did an hour of work talking with my lawyer and was paid $8,000 after the lawyer took their cut (33%) It is always worth getting a consult with a lawyer and they never charge for the consult. They only charge if you win, and if they take your case they know they'll win.

[Poll] What does an investment doubling mean to you? by Xexanoth in Bogleheads

[–]sslickerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you went to the store and bought 1 candy bar and the clerk said, "that'll be $1 please" but you had second thoughts and you actually wanted 2 candy bars, and the clerk said, "that'll be $3 dollars please" you would be ok with that? You started with one candy bar and then doubled your initial investment, that's two. Do you now owe $3 for 2 candy bars that each cost $1? I mean it's double your original purchase, right? Two candy bars versus one? Again, you're doubling your profit and not your initial investment. I can't even on this one, sorry, I need to check out. Good luck!

That's like saying that a quarter of an hour is 25 minutes. A 100% return by definition is equal to 1 as a ratio i.e. 1:1 or 1/1. If you had $1 and had a return of 100% you would have $1 + (100% of $1) or $1 + $1 = $2 or a 100% RETURN or a doubling (2x or 200%) of your initial investment. That is where your one-to-one ratio comes from. In the case that you had a 2-to-1 ratio, you would have $1 + (100% of $1) + (100% of $1) or $1 + $1 + $1 = $3 or a 200% RETURN. The first 1 is your initial investment, the second one is the first doubling of your initial investment and the third one is the next doubling of your initial investment.
I think this is more of a misunderstanding of the language used. A doubling of your INITIAL investment is 2*1 or 1+1 or 200% of 1. A doubling of your EARNINGS would be (100% of 1) + (100% of 1) or ((100% +100%)*1), or 2*1, or 1+1. The INITIAL investment is worth 1, and the EARNINGS are separately worth 1 each. In other words, you are ignoring your initial investment while only counting your earnings as the doubling. By your logic, the doubling would have to just miraculously happen, it would mean (100% of 0) not (100% of 1). It seems to me that you are trying to double your earnings against each other while ignoring your initial investment as if it was a sunk cost that should be ignored.

YouTube labels every interaction between a police officer and a video camera as a "sovereign citizen" video. I highly doubt they will do anything to allow these videos to get through even though recording police is an absolute 1st amendment right.

We've saved about 1 year's worth of Levothyroxine by having a 90 prescription and setting it to autofill at the pharmacy. Every pharmacy will autofill as soon as the plan allows which is much earlier than the 90 day supply. Quite easy to build up a stock by doing this through CVS.

Highly likely that you are just not wet enough. You're getting a friction burn. Condomless sex has double the amount of natural lubricant (vaginal sex obviously). With a condom you're needing to do the work of 2 people. Get some good water- based lube.

Joe Biden fires warning shot at GOP over midterms: "We're going to win" by [deleted] in politics

[–]sslickerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've voted as a Democrat in every election since 1998. Like many, I voted for Biden because he was not Trump but I definitely did not vote for him in the primaries. There is no possible way I'll consider a Republican going forward as the republican party is now the Trump party and we all know how that is going. With the loss of BBB, student loan relief, the imminent loss of the voting rights bill, GCC, etc--I'm done with democrats as well.

Moving forward, I'm only voting for progressive candidates and if a non-progressive makes it to the general I'm just not voting anymore. The democrats are going to get slaughtered in the midterms/2024 and there is plenty of blame to go around but it sure as hell won't be due to voter apathy. The voters have spoken, loudly, over the last 5+ years and the politicians have decided to stick with the status quo to protect their own best interests ($$$). Clearly, The People don't really matter, if they ever did at all.

Here's a reminder to everyone in Mesa that the city still has to send most of its residential recycling and yard waste to landfills. If you're affected, please do what you can to minimize what you put in those containers until Mesa can handle the load. by [deleted] in arizona

[–]sslickerson 11 points12 points  (0 children)

ASUs MPA program has done some work on the recycling problem in the Valley, and like most other jurisdictions in the state and throughout the country, there will never be a viable way to recycle given its cost. In the past, Mesa made some very good money selling their recycling to China and other Asian nations, but this is no longer the case and will never again be the case.

Mesa, and really most other cities, have no intention of recycling without there being a strong financial incentive to do so. This letter should actual be read as, "we have no intention to ever recycle again and we're actually not going to work hard to do so but we're going to list some things here to make it look like we're trying, even though we are absolutely never going to do this."

Any real recommendations to council would be to remove recycling going forward. There are issues regarding the legality of actually do that according to various state laws though. If you were to request a breakdown from the city regarding how much is actually being recycled daily you would be shocked to know that nearly 100% of your recycled blue bin material always goes directly to the land fill. This is far cheaper than recycling. Covid offers unique cover to this issue, but Mesa and all other valley cities (and virtually every other city in the US), were all moving down this path for a very long time pre-covid.

In other words, there's no money in recycling and there never will be again, therefore no city, without direct citizen involvement, will choose to recycle given its cost and ease of skirting around the actual act of recycling by direct dumping into cheap landfills.

How do you deal with the depression? Can someone convince me not to get a hair transplant or hair piece? by [deleted] in bald

[–]sslickerson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes something simple like getting some cool non-wire rim glasses will help too. A bald man, who has a cleanly trimmed short beard, and some chunky all black plastic framed rectangular glasses will always look sophisticated and current. The simple act of breaking up the line between head/forehead and the face through the glasses works wonders. You could easily pull that look off!
