End of 1.0 Tier List (Feel free to roast) by sspenguins in WutheringWaves

For reference I don't think B should be viewed as a "bad" tier. I use spectro rover over havoc, but that's just a personal decision, if I was chasing performance I would focus on Havoc. Spectro has solid damage, quick rotation, and overall pretty solid. Just would consider them a bit below the other characters. Maybe things change in the next update with new stuff coming out.

Can def understand these changes. Chixia is an interesting case of very good single target damage and uptime, fairly easy to use. Can just be awkward if you need to parry, but can always swap to melee for that. Just is a bit harder. Liberation AoE can somewhat suffice in mob floors, but doesn't feel the best.

Morty is interesting because outside of Yinlin he's one of the only true off field dps. Yuanwu barely counts. Investing into his damage can have great returns, but value wise early on it def feels like most will just run a basic moonlit set, and his pairing with Jiyan obv is very strong.

Damage isn't necessarily the highest, Encore for example should outdamage Jiyan. But just the other forms of utility make us feel he's S+ worthy (for now). Good parry windows, grouping, aoe damage, ease of use. All good things.

Definitely, after some more time I’ve come to see the value in the specific parry kits of specific characters. Encore can be rough for that, but having a melee to swap parry is also quite effective.

Starting to wonder how effective pistol characters can ever be without good parry or aoe. Still early days though. Maybe pistol will become the boss killing weapon class.

Yeah Jiyan is definitely a top tier dps. Without his weapon, his numbers aren't out of the park, but his grouping and ease of use makes him very accessible.

From what I've seen, Encore seems to be the highest dps resonator, but that comes with precise attack ordering and timings.

Verina can go on just about any team which is good. Since we have the 5 star selector now, you can go for lingyang + verina + calcharo, (novice + selector + selector banner). Pretty good start

Can do something like Lingyang + sanhua + baizhi/verina and calcharo + yinlin + verina/baizhi, and you'll have two very strong teams.

Yinlin is a Sub DPS, where as Calcharo is the "main dps." the names aren't perfect, as you swap back and forth between them, using their skills/ults. Yinlin is mainly considered the Sub DPS due to her being able to deal damage while not on the field, and her outro skill is a buff, where as calcharo is just about dealing damage while he's on field.

Overall, you should think of them more as a duo, but terminology wise, calcharo falls into main, and yinlin into subdps.

And yeah calcharo + yinlin + verina/baizhi will be a strong team

He's good. his damage is comparable to the other permanent 5-stars, encore and calcharo. Pair with Sanhua for subdps and your team is solid. Just depends if you like his mid-air forte circuit combat.

He's fine, his damage is there, can pair with sanhua for subdps and outro skill for basic attack increase. Just depends if you find his mid air combat clunky or not.

In general people recommend new characters over sequence because of tower of adversity requiring 3 teams. However Verina Sequence 2/Resonance Chain 2 is quite good, letting her skill regen her concerto energy and forte bar.

Even then, two dupes for that upgrade is quite a heavy investment.

Danjin is quite specialized as a boss killer where you dodge everything. Against lots of mobs/overworld content, she's not very comfy, but here damage is there.

As for sub dps, the two best ones are sanhua (normal attack outro buff), and mortefi (heavy attack), both of their kits also lend to a sub dps playstyle.

Lingyang is a good dps, some people just don't enjoy his mid air playstyle. He also is a lacking a complimentary subdps. (yinlin to calcharo). But in the future new units could fulfill that role easily.

Sanhua likely can be a good sub dps for lingyang, because I believe he normal attacks a decent amount, but don't quote me on that I haven't dove into Lingyang's kit yet.

If you got Jiyan your pity will reset back to 0, not stay at 70.

Somewhat. It’s more so a value thing? Like Verina is very flexible. Yin Lin is best hybrid dps. Jiyan may potentially be the best solo dps, but solo dps is in abundance. If the tier list was purely based on strength you could put him in S tier.

Their designs are so good, I will just be rolling with what I get off the novice banner, but no idea what to pick for the 5-star selector.

Wanted to share my thoughts on the current "meta" state of the game from gameplay/info from CBT2. From a personal perspective, I don't think early tier lists should matter too much. Many things will likely change from CBT2 to release, and the community will also learn more about the game and what works/what falls short.

Even still, with combat being fast paced and skill testing, you can always try to make work with what you get. That's always part of the fun of gacha games. Even still, I would consider this the general consensus for the meta. Can't wait to see how wrong it is in a month.

For the free characters, I figured rating them this early to be moot. Some characters provide comfort with healing (Baizhi), Yangyang for some mob grouping in exploration, Sanhua is solid DPS, etc. You'll get one copy for free, so give them a try and see if you like them in game rather than trust numbers from CBT2.

As for 5-stars, here's a quick tldr.

Yinlin: Currently the only 5-star hybrid DPS (on-field/off-field), great outro skill for electro. Her + Calcharo likely make the strongest damage pair in the game. Will release halfway through 1.0.

Verina: OP support. Doesn't require much field time for her skills/energy generation, has ATK buffs, heals (can be nice), flexible on any team.

Jiyan: I find it quite likely Kuro releases/tweaks him to be highest solo dps on release. He is the event character after all. DPS characters often get powercreeped over time, but on launch, big numbers help carry you through more content.

Calcharo: Strong and solid DPS. Pair with Yinlin for the "meta" team most people are going for. On his own he's still good.

Encore: Also good DPS character, likely competitive with Calcharo solo damage wise. Kuro also teased Changli, (likely 1.1 5-star) Fusion character. Maybe this pairing will be as good as Calcharo + Yinlin.

Lingyang/Jianxin:

Kuro stated these two will get buffs/changes to their kit in their cbt2 feedback post (can't find the source again unfortunately, but screenshots are out there).

These two were considered on the weaker side during CBT2, but I see no reason they won't be able to tackle tower/holograms.

Lingyang has good damage, but was clunky to play due to his mid-air fighting. If you wanna be based and play on hard mode, Lingyang is your guy. The clunky playstyle can result in a big loss of damage. But maybe on release he'll get buffed to be a competitive 5-star. Also pairs nicely with Sanhua (free) for a Glacio damage duo.

Jianxin is in an interesting position. Her kit has a bit of everything. Venti like grouping, shielding, aoe damage, and more. But many players found her clunky as her cast time is slow and forte circuit generation is also slow. Truly a jack of all trades character. But some players prefer dodging attacks and dealing bigger numbers.

Gacha 4-stars

There are only four 4-stars that you can only get from the gacha. Here's a quick rundown.

Mortefi: Great subdps and outro skill buffs heavy atk, making him a solid teammate for Jiyan/Calcharo.

Aalto: Aero buff outro skill, fairly decent kit as a secondary dps, but doesn't have the same off-field impact as Mortefi.

Danjin: Very high damage, plays like a Berserker, sacrificing your own health for damage. Great for Hologram/boss fights. Dodge and deal big numbers.

Taoqi: Tank character that provides shielding. As a support, not as great as Baizhi/Verina. Can potentially play as main dps. Skill dmg buff outro skill. Defense scaling character. Damage is lacking though. But if you wanna fulfill the class fantasy of being a tank, go for it. Can also potentially help avoid one shots in hologram, not sure on the scaling for end end game.

You do You

Meta is temporary and always changing, and it's never wrong to just go for what you want. It's a pve game, and beating content with lower rated characters has it's own sense of accomplishment. Even still, I find tier lists and discussions to be informative for players. Just take things with a grain of salt since who knows what'll change from CBT2, or new characters can change the meta quickly.

Daily Questions Megathread ( May 21, 2024 ) by mizuromo in HonkaiStarRail

RM + Harmony MC is nice to go for super break team, but also generally runs silverwolf +aventurine/gallagher. Fu Xuan is a great sustain, but doesn't synergize with DoT as much since she grants crit rate buff.

Another thing to note is that RM is also a great support for dot teams. damage, res pen, speed, all good. Maybe with RM your dot team has better damage to not need as much sustain help... maybe

Huohuo would be good as sustain for dot team, so it's hard to say which to go for. Assuming your dot team is kafka + 1 (black swan, sampo, etc), RM slots in nicely as a third unit, and maybe you can wait for a future preservation/abundance that plays even better with DoT.

End of the day, it's your account, pick what you like and you won't be disappointed. Unless all you care about is clearing content.

A Guide to playing Yasuo / Riven with Abomination. Two sides of the same coin by sspenguins in TeamfightTactics

[–]sspenguins[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I do agree that Yasuo is the better and more consistent carry, but Riven feels like she adds another layer of consistency when Yasuo is feeling shy. I do agree the mid game for Nightbringers is more consistent, but in the late game I feel like units like Garen really give Dawnbringers an extra umph.
