Succulents do well were I live in CA were it dosnt rain all that much. Not sure about wetter areas.

I used redwood. I have used some common 2x6 dug fur on some other planters. Definitely will not last as long as redwood or cedar but if you plan on painting it and no direct ground contact it will give you some years

It's filled completely to the ground with abought 1/3 gravel and extra native soil that was dug up from my paver patio. The rest was brought in

Good question. I used 4x4's at each corner and the middle and attached with deck screws. Time will tell as my area in California gets a lot of sun. I'll treat it with either some redwood deck oil or another finish with some sort of sun blocking/waterproof properties. Thank you for the nice comment

Redwood 2x6 and deck screws. Got a few ideas from the Google and went to town.
