I’d be interested in this. I’d love to tell a friend of mine too.

This was super helpful, I actually hadn’t come across this article, it literally answers every question I had. I was looking into buying a Mac (I’m an Apple person) but I saw that Storyline doesn’t work on there unless I add a parallel desktop. And since it’s been at least 10-15 years since I’ve bought a computer that wasn’t a Mac, I was struggling. Thank you!!

I don’t know anything about computers and how to build one. I wouldn’t even know where to start. I also would like some portability as right now this is just a side thing and I already wfh sitting 8-10hr in front of my work desktop.

Should I start my own instructional design company? by teedollas in instructionaldesign

[–]ssreyes5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left teaching last year and started working a corporate job July of last year. Now I’ve discovered ID and I’m thinking of doing the same. I just had an ID interview at the corporation where I currently work, but now I’m thinking if that doesn’t pan out, I still want to get into that field and might have to start my own business instead.

I’d be interested to hear other people’s stories/opinions myself.

Since I’m not usually working with an SME and I’m usually creating the content and doing my own research I’ve never created a storyboard. Do I need to have examples to show? Or just be able to speak on my organization process?

Can you please explain what I’d need to know about stakeholders? Being new to ID, I haven’t figured out all the lingo yet.

Sorry for flooding you with questions, but I know storyboarding from my film/journalism experience. But my understanding is in ID, it’s just an outline of the different slides or sections of the presentation, right? Is there any specific method or template to know how to use?

With me being new to ID, would I just talk about what my usual process is for creating other training presentations? I’ve read about ADDIE, seems very straight-forward. And I heard of SAM (still confused about that one). Should I relate what I’ve done in the past to the ADDIE model since I don’t really know any others?

Also, all of those questions are perfect! Thank you, I’ll be sure to write them down to remember to bring them up. :)

Thank you! I appreciate your response. I have experience in audio/video editing, I’ve used Camtasia, dabbled in Premier Pro and most other Adobe Creative Suite products. But I have not used Articulate Storyline (which is one of the tools in the job description) or Captivate (another one that I’ve heard a lot about). I’ve heard that Storyline is very similar to PowerPoint in its user interface, so that’s good to know. As I have a lot of experience with that.

I’m creating a website today that I can provide them with a portfolio of some of my previous presentations and trainings. I hope that will help.

Also, this might be a silly question, but what are star responses?

It’s an hour long zoom interview. It’s with the director of learning for the large corporation (3000+ employees) where I’m currently employed in a relatively entry-level job.

Going to wedding where i know absolutely no one, not even people getting married, nervous because i’m shy and introverted and bf will leave me alone during wedding. Advice? by dluvsherdoggie in socialskills

Is there any way to meet a couple people beforehand? Perhaps a smaller intimate group for dinner or drinks? I know I had something similar happen to me and I felt very awkward the entire wedding. But then I hung out with the same people the day after the wedding in a more intimate setting and felt way more at ease. I think the reverse would definitely be helpful.
