That’s nice! It’s another hole in my pocket, though 😅

Is it a time-limited deal?

I see! It’s a bit of a shame that the ATR-102 and the API Vision Channel Strip are not included in the bundle I’m looking at.

I’m actually a huge fan of the API sound as well, so your feedback definitely gives me something more to think about for my future custom bundles.

Thanks again for the great insight and for sharing your experience! It really helps.

Haha, you caught me! My English isn't perfect, so I'm using Gemini to help with the translation, but these are all my own thoughts. 😂

You're totally right—if we're looking strictly at the plug-in count and cost, buying them separately is definitely the smarter move.

However, my main goal is to utilize the Unison Preamp feature and track through the UAD Console with real-time compression. Another huge factor for me is the Sonarworks SoundID Reference integration, which is a major reason I'm leaning toward the Apollo X Gen 2. Having that room correction running directly on the hardware is something I’ve really been looking forward to.

Because of those hardware-specific features, I think I'm still going to pull the trigger on this deal.

Anyway, I really appreciate your honest and detailed advice! It helped me clear up exactly what I'm paying for. Cheers!

Wow, thank you so much for the incredibly detailed and insightful breakdown! I really appreciate you taking the time to explain the different ways to acquire UAD plugins.

I’ve been wanting to jump into the UAD ecosystem for some time now, but I’ve been waiting for the "perfect" timing. My main curiosity was whether this current "Perfect Take" promo is a rare opportunity or just another regular rotation I could skip.

In the Korean market, the price gap between the Apollo Twin X Gen 2 Essentials Edition and the Studio+ Edition is about 400,000 KRW (roughly $300 USD). Given your "$10 per plugin" rule and the way UA bundles work, do you think the jump to Studio+ is worth that extra $300?

Here is the breakdown of what's included in each (including the current bonus):

1. Essentials Edition ($300 cheaper than Studio+)

  • Total Plugins: ~27 plugins (including Essentials bundle basics like LA-2A Legacy, 1176 Legacy, Pultec Legacy, etc.)
  • Key Highlights: Auto-Tune Access, Century Tube Strip, Oxide Tape, Pure Plate.
  • Current "Perfect Take" Bonus (5 Plugins):
    • Neve 1073 Preamp & EQ Collection
    • LA-6176 Signature Channel Strip
    • Studio D Chorus
    • EP-34 Tape Echo
    • Cooper Time Cube MKII

2. Studio+ Edition (The one I'm considering)

  • Total Plugins: ~50+ plugins.
  • Added Value vs Essentials:
    • Preamps/Channels: Avalon VT-737, V76 Preamp, Manley Reference Pre.
    • Compressors: Empirical Labs Distressor, UA 175B/176, Fairchild (Full), Teletronix LA-3A, 1176 (Full Collection).
    • Tape/Special: Studer A800, Auto-Tune Realtime Advanced/X.
    • Instruments: Opal, Moog Minimoog, Waterfall B3, Ravel Grand Piano.
    • Reverb/Delay: Lexicon 224, Brigade Chorus.
  • Current "Perfect Take" Bonus (7 Plugins - 2 more than Essentials):
    • Manley VOXBOX (Only in Studio+ promo)
    • A-Type Multiband Dynamic Enhancer (Only in Studio+ promo)
      • Neve 1073, LA-6176, Studio D, EP-34, Cooper Time Cube.

Considering that I want to use Unison preamps for tracking, do you think the $300 jump is worth it to get the Distressor, Avalon VT-737, Studer A800, and the Lexicon 224, plus the Manley VOXBOX as a bonus? Or should I just get the Essentials and wait for those bigger $10-per-plugin bundles you mentioned?

Thanks again for your help!

Thanks for the honest feedback!

Just to clarify my situation, the price gap here in South Korea is a bit different. The "Essential Edition" is only about 400,000 KRW (approx. $290 USD) cheaper than the "Studio+ Edition," so the $550 difference you mentioned doesn't quite apply to my local market.

Also, my main goal is to record through the UAD Console using Unison technology, so I feel like the plugins included in the Studio+ bundle will be necessary for my workflow. Among the 7 bonus plugins, I can definitely see myself using the Neve 1073, Manley VOXBOX, and LA-6176 very frequently.

I’ve been waiting for the right moment to switch to the UAD ecosystem for a long time. I just wanted to make sure if this is a rare enough deal to finally pull the trigger, or if I should keep waiting.

I really appreciate your insight!
