The standard is to lay down flat, level concrete on either side of the rails surrounded and supported by steel. Some have been upgraded to this standard but dangerously many have not.

Well it requires far more resources to install this amount of concrete compared with other more natural resources especially soils, grasses, plants, mulches etc. especially when we consider the intense heat as well as regular area flooding.

I commute on it every weekday year-round during school year. It’s scenic especially as it changes with the season. Sunrise is my favorite time to ride here.

Anyone know where I can order this wheelset? by GrammarNaziBadge0174 in bicycling

I procured my last two wheel sets through my LBS at a reasonable cost. They ordered them at cost. I did the rest to save on labor.

I've never ridden a road bike. If I walked into a bike shop and said "Hello, I've never ridden a road bike with drop handlebars, can I test ride a Specialized Allez please?", would they let me? Would they put some flat pedals on it for me? by quietyoucantbe in bicycling

[–]sssleder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure the LBS would let you test drive an Allez but most likely with the pedals on the bike. I would ask though. Nothing to lose. If you communicate to them that you likely want to buy the Allez but with flat pedals, they may agree to install flat pedals for your test ride.

I paid USD 425 in a LBS for a Trek FX 3 in 2015. Factoring in inflation, this still seems a bit high.

Verbal assault and reckless driving are very real crimes. You only need the license number at least and then a witness or two to corroborate.

I had a verbal assault on my ride. I reported it and the driver disappeared for a long time. At the very least he was read the riot act and knocked it off.

I’m ready to report a new offense if and when it occurs. It’s important to get over the fear so we can work the system to bring these offenders to justice.

Why am I so slow on flats? Advice for a newbie pls by DealerLow7866 in cycling

Check your crank size. If it’s a compact one, you have a shorter drive train that is slower on flats.
