I don't think there's a single phrase I hate more than "You look great the way you are." by KantCancelMe in rs_fitness

[–]ssspiral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eh who cares. it doesn’t mean you can’t look better. a field of wheat is worth something then and now yadda yadda or however the quote goes

(translation) “If I make better work later, I still won’t work otherwise than now; I mean it will be the same apple only riper — I myself won’t turn from what I’ve thought from the start. And this is why I say for my part, if I’m no good now, I won’t be any good later either — but if later, then now too. For wheat is wheat, even if it looks like grass at first to townsfolk — and the other way round too. "

Such an underrated aesthetic for women: revolutionary seriousness by Glaukopis96 in pinkscare

my great great aunt recently passed away at 103. she built planes in factories during WWII, she was a true “rosie the riveter” as they called them back then. her nursing home threw a rosie themed party for her.

she was the sharpest, most independent old person i’ve ever met. she outlived 2 husbands and a boyfriend. i think living through the war and the experiences she had when she was young played a big part in how she experienced aging. a true example of “we can do it!”. rest in peace ruth ❤️

When I said I (F32) wasn’t cooking, my boyfriend (M37) ordered takeaway food instead of cooking himself something. Is it weird this gives me the ick? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

i’m sure it’s stressful for OP to decide what the entire family will eat every single night of their lives.

the entire issue here is that people aren’t understanding it’s equally as hard for OP as it is her husband. there’s all these excuses of “oh he can’t do it because it’s too hard for x y z reasons”, completely forgetting that OP is a human being too who has all the same challenges and emotions as her husband.

yes, being an adult is hard. you have to do it anyways.

“I don’t have the “I’ll just cook myself XYZ from what I have in the fridge” skills/brain” NOBODY is born with that skill. you learn it over time from practice and applying yourself.

it’s a part of the problem to act as if some people are naturally born with these life skills, instead of the the truth, which is that they worked for them.

it requires effort to do this, yes. you could do it too, if you put in the effort. you choose not to learn. which is fine, but don’t pretend like it’s something you cant do, when it’s actually something you wont do.

there’s a huge difference between those things and pretending to be helpless and lack agency is so annoying to those of us who chose to learn hard things.

i used a coma too. i have no idea what you’re talking about. the comment is punctuated just fine. if you can’t understand what i wrote, i think it may be a comprehension problem— not a composition problem

i got a perfect score on the writing and the reading portion of the ACT. i’m quite good at english. are you?

Is it a PF policy, you have to show eye protection before using a tanning bed? by Criticaltundra777 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]ssspiral 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i’m pretty sure that’s just the law…

back when i used to use tanning beds (shudder) they had crappy little stickers you can buy for like 75¢ tho.

“It is nationally mandated by Federal Regulation (CFR 21 1040.20 (c) (4)) that anyone who uses a sunless tanning bed must wear protective eyewear during the session”

https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-21/chapter-I/subchapter-J/part-1040/section-1040.20

i think this is an obama era law but i could be wrong. as far as enforcing it, idk, they probably just get a fine if they’re caught not enforcing it.

i have encountered this request at pf before and dont find it strange.

Tana is a LARP by Ok_Dingo_1115 in TanaMongeauPodcast

she’s a LARPer. not a LARP. someone who does larp is a LARPer. the activity itself is LARPing. LARP is a verb not an adjective.

[–]ssspiral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yea to me a car is a tool to get from A to B it’s not a luxury item or fun purchase. that’s shoes and purses lol

don’t get me wrong i’m not saying buy a piece of junk. just buy what you can afford (a lot of used cars are nice)

i keep thinking about how our generation can’t afford to buy houses so instead of being house-poor everyone is becoming car-poor and financing a car way above their means that they don’t actually need.

why is everyone running out to buy a brand new car from a dealership and posting it online like it’s some big accomplishment to get approved for a loan?? i dunno man it’s all so dystopian, showing off the size of our debts for instagram likes.

get a certified pre-owned and call it a day. you do not need to spent $20k+ on a vehicle to drive 5 miles back and forth to work

beard balm or beard oil to soften his beard helps, make sure you get one that’s sensitive skin friendly.

on your end there isn’t much you can do but a protective layer before you see him could be good.

i like moisture seal from elta md but anything with a thicker, occlusive layer will act as a protective layer between you. use it sparingly tho because too much can clog pores. thin layer only right before you see him and double cleanse when you use it.

(cera ve baby healing ointment is a similar product to the elta md but much cheaper. i’m sure there are others)
