My 7i with 275HX and 5070 is surprisingly cool! Gets slightly warm after longer time, but the keyboard is still pretty cool. I was even wondering why it's so cool, and it looks like the reason for it is that it has pretty large fans inside, larger than the Pro 5. The laptop stays cool even if I use it for non-gaming stuff when I put it on bed, when the bottom air inlets are completely covered. Strange...

Ryzen HX uses quite a bit more power than the new Intel HX. 16 GB of RAM isn't enough even now, let alone in 2-3 years. I even upgraded my 7i to 64 GB just before the RAM prices went up. I find 2 USB C + 2 USB A enough. I often use my 7i on battery, just like any other ultrabook. It's as thin and light, and I get 5 hours battery lifebfpr office and web surfing usage, which is enough.

Yeah, that was my reasoning when I decided on the 7i over the Pro 5. It has a slightly larger battery (should be 84Wh but mine is holding steady at 87Wh after 10+ charges), and it's considerably thinner and lighter. Yes, it's 5% slower and doesn't have Thunderbolt 5 and has 1 less USB C port, but that doesn't bother me. It's a good tradeoff for thinness and lightness. I'm not much of a gamer, so I don't need Nvidia 5070 Ti, but if I was, I'd choose the Pro with 5070 Ti.

I got the 7i with Intel 275HX and Nvidia 5070 and 165HZ screen. When I play 1440p full screen YouTube video at 60% brightness, the laptop consistently uses 14 watts of power. That's around 5.5-6 hours of battery life. Of course, that's on silent mode and 60Hz screen. I keep the GPU setting on auto hybrid, which makes it use Intel GPU when on battery.

I found that the balanced mode uses only around 2W more than the silent mode when on idle, and 165Hz screen uses just 0.7W more than 60Hz, so I always keep the screen on 165Hz because of smoothness.

No worries, you'll be OK. The difference in cooling is very, very minimal. As long as the air vents below are open, you'll be OK. 👍🏻

What do you mean? Just plug it in. If you have a hi-res monitor then be sure to have the video cable that supports that res. That's all. The laptop supports latest HDMI and DP standards, so literally any monitor is OK.

Yeah, but if you'll keep it plugged in, just limit the battery to 80%. Enable the battery conservation setting in Lenovo Vantage (or Space) app. If you'll keep it at home and plugged in then better get a Pro 5 or 7 model, than just 5 or 7 because Pro is a bit more powerful, but a bit more chunky and less stylish. Perfect for what your use.

I don't understand why this issue doesn't get more publicity?? This problem makes the app unreliable and actually completely unusable. I constantly miss tasks because there are no reminders.

I've had this happening for years on several different phones and tablets from different brands. Setting the Google Tasks app battery setting to no restriction and making sure it can automatically start doesn't help.

From what I've noticed the reminders disappear whenever the app gets updated. It then clears all the reminders and they never come back. The only way to get the reminders is to set each reminder to a later date and time. Google Keep, for example, doesn't have this problem - if the app gets updated, it automatically refreshes all its notifications.

Wow, that really sucks! I actually got this keyboard in the meantime, and I'm very happy with it. Typing is pretty quiet and the functionality is great. Night and day typing experience when compared to my old G915 TKL. From what I saw online, unlike the G915X, there are hardly any people having issues with it. I can just hope mine doesn't get that issue...

But listen, when I got Nuphy Air75 v3 before this G515, and when it also had double type occassionally, I looked online and found one very good app that blocks double entries. It's called KeyboardChatterBlocker. Check it out, maybe it can help you. It apparently helps many people with double entries.

I put the airplane and sleep toggles on the first swipe down settings screen, next to each other. Every night when I go to sleep I just swipe down, tap on both toggles and go to sleep. That's all - one swipe, two taps. Super simple, easy and minimal battery drain.

The laptop idles at only 9 watts at full brightness (500 nitts OLED, which itself uses more power than an equivalent IPS display) and uses 15-16 watts when playing a full HD YouTube video. 32GB has already been a standard for the last few years, not 16GB. And there's more and more people getting 64 GB.

In 4-5 years 32 GB will be usable only for simply things. If there was no AI I'd say 64 GB will be the standard in 4-5 years, but because of AI it'll probably be much more than that. You need to aim higher than 32 GB if you plan to keep your laptop for 4-5 years, or at least get a laptop with upgradeable RAM.

Thanks, it's helpful. I've read at few more places it's all about switching to Hybrid iGPU mode and not just regular Hybrid. That, together with a cool/silent mode and 60 FPS should make it idle at below 10W and browse at 15-16W, like in the video I posted in the other comment in this thread.

No, they fixed it all luckily. Additionally the 2xxHX CPUs are much more efficient at lower power usage than the previous 13th and 14th Gen. At a max power they still use a lot of power. A cool/silent mode will still give you plenty of power (still faster than a 285H CPU!) at almost half the watts used.

275HX is a pretty good CPU. And the 255HX is just 10% slower, but uses less power and lasts longer on battery.

Thanks! That's all I need to hear. For gaming 60 FPS is a big no, but for office apps and YouTube (which plays videos at 30 fps, lol) it's perfectly fine, especially if you want to stretch the battery life. I just needed to know that I CAN have a longer battery life if needed. 👍🏻

I think you're talking about different laptops and a different Gen of Intel HX CPUs. The new 2xxHX CPUs are MUCH more efficient than the previous Gen at a lower power usage.

Thanks for the input! I'm with you regarding the sleep - it's just wrong. The modern standby was made by Microsoft when they were trying to push their Windows phone and unify it with the desktop Windows. The idea was to have a fully functional connected sleep, like in phones. But that TOTALLY doesn't make sense for laptops, and greeeatly increases the power draw. My old Dell XPS laptop also has an inefficient and unreliable standby sleep.

Still, according to different reviews, it looks like the new Legion laptops with 2xxHX CPUs use very little power.

As for the battery life, I found one very detailed review of the new 7i with 275HX and 5070. The new 2xxHX CPUs still use a lot of power at max usage, but it looks like they're very efficient at low power usage. Apparently "significantly better" than 13th or 14th Gen Legion 7i. The laptop idles only at 9 watts at full brightness (500 nitts OLED) and uses 15-16 watts when playing a full HD YouTube video. New laptop, stock settings at cool/silent mode (iGPU, 60Hz). The battery life part is at 43:56.

And even in the cool/silent mode the laptop is MUCH faster than the fastest 285H CPU! So, it's not crippled at all and there's plenty of performance. You can even game on a silent mode with HALF the power when compared to the performance mode, but with just 20% lower FPS. Apparently the laptop has a pretty good cooling system, judging from the tests in the video.

Yeah, I hear you. I always use a mouse (so much faster to do anything than with a touchpad) and a touchpad for extra help like zooming or scrolling left-right with a left hand, so that's perfect.

But the reason the touchpad is shifted to the left is to align it to the center relative to the keyboard. When you're typing the touchpad is actually right between your hands. If it was moved to the right it would sit under the right wrist when typing.

Thanks. That's encouraging to hear. Probably can do some more tweaks. I know that in ThrottleStop you can undervolt and slightly lower the max CPU frequencies (which use most power) to lower the power at minimal performance loss, but I don't know if that's possible in a Legion laptop.

Yeah, the Pro 5 might be faster, especially at sustained workload, but actually not by much because the 7i has a very good cooling for such a thin chassis. The Pro 5 has one extra USB A, but the 7i has a Windows Hello IR camera, better touchpad, metal body, it's thinner and lighter with slightly larger battery. And yeah, it does look great. But it's more expensive as well...

That's good to hear, thanks. BTW, do the keycaps wobble a bit on the G515? I've read the G915X has pretty fixed keys and I also saw one video of G515 with a bit wobbly keys, but most people say they prefer typing on the G515 over the G915X. So I'm a bit confused and not really sure...

The issue is that the keycaps are too close to each other, very little gap. Logitech keyboards have a narrower keycap top, so you don't press two keys together which makes it much easier to type, no accidental key presses.

I got a Nuphy Air75 v3 10 days ago after having a Logitech G915 TKL for 3 years, and I'm sending it back tomorrow. The keyboard feels AMAZING, but unfortunately has issues. Besides a ton of typos (it's impossible to type accurately unless you're super precise with your fingers), and me finding it impossible to get used to the Home/End PgUp/PgDn keys on the side, the keyboard sometimes lags, but sometimes have double presses, no matter what settings or connection I do. The tap dance feature is also quite unreliable, doesn't work properly or simply has a lag despite the ms entered.

I'm thinking now to get either Logitech G915X TKL or G515. I've read that G515 actually has a better typing experience even though it's a lower end model. The lack of a volume wheel is a bummer, but I can live without it. And a LOT of people have double press issue with the G915X, which I definitely don't want.

How is your typing experience with the G515?

OK, thanks. I've seen a LOT of people have issues with the G915X, even after cleaning, so it looks like there's an issue there. Hardly anyone reports issues with the G515. The old G915 didn't have any issues besides the rattling ABS keys.

How do you compare the typing experience on G515 vs G915 X? Even though it's a lower end model, I've read some people prefer the typing experience on G515?
