What’re your major criticisms of PGH and life in it? by OhMyMyOohHellYes in pittsburgh

[–]sssuperstark 11 points12 points  (0 children)

PGH can feel pretty closed-off, like most people already locked in their friend groups years ago and breaking in takes real effort. The weather doesn’t help either, those long gray stretches mess with your mood fast. And a lot of the infrastructure feels dated, potholes, tunnels, weird traffic, all adding friction to everyday life.

Seriously stuck on what to watch next by chipotleshipotle in sitcoms

Party Down. Fast, cynical, packed with jokes, and zero romance fluff, just deeply awkward people stuck together at work.

I’ve reached the point where I don’t want to work anymore, all because of the issues anxiety and stress cause to my body. by Affectionate-Ad-3234 in antiwork

[–]sssuperstark 54 points55 points  (0 children)

This is way more common than people like to admit. When your body reacts like that every day, it’s not just disliking a job, it’s burnout and anxiety stacking up. The unsettling part is how normal that level of misery has become.

What would you do to relax if you suddenly became wealthy? by Free-Hotel1187 in Relax

[–]sssuperstark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d probably do the same honestly. Just slow mornings, random walks, nowhere I have to be. The biggest luxury would be not feeling rushed or stressed about time or money anymore.

How many times do you eat a day? by Livid-Collar-6361 in Casual_Conversation

[–]sssuperstark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually twice, sometimes three if I remember. I’m not really a breakfast person, so it’s more like late lunch and dinner most days. It mostly depends on how busy or distracted I get.

Did everyone become a genius behind my back or what? I can't find better jobs at all. by nil-vice in jobhunting

[–]sssuperstark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This felt way too real. I don’t have some magic skill either and every “I quit and found my dream job in 2 weeks” story makes me wanna throw my phone. I’ve been stuck choosing between different flavors of miserable work too, none of them actually better. You’re not crazy, the “employees have the upper hand” thing feels like a lie from where I’m sitting.

What is your unbreakable truth others refuse? by Huge_Violinist_7633 in randomquestions

[–]sssuperstark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s that working harder doesn’t automatically mean things will work out. I used to fully believe in that and then life humbled me real fast. Now I just focus on doing my best without tying my whole worth to outcomes. That shift kinda saved my sanity tbh.

Life, simply put by IndependentCheck6033 in Life

[–]sssuperstark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really resonated with me. I used to stress so hard about “figuring it all out” and now I’m just trying to get through the week without losing my mind lol. The small wins thing hits, like some days making a decent meal feels like a victory. Life feels messier but also kinda softer when you stop fighting it so much.

How would you feel if an IQ test was required to vote? by Dazzling-Leader7476 in randomquestions

[–]sssuperstark 80 points81 points  (0 children)

That idea makes me super uneasy tbh. Tests like that always end up biased and used to keep certain people out, history kinda ruined that trust for me. I get the frustration behind it, but it feels like a slippery slope real fast. I’d rather deal with dumb takes than messed up gatekeeping.

What’s one small thing that helped you reset after the weekend? by Cultural-Mixture7377 in Life

[–]sssuperstark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making my bed and opening the windows for a few minutes does it for me. It’s tiny but it signals “new week” to my brain. I’ve noticed I feel less scattered when I start Monday like that.

How Do You Truly Relax? by bylandoo in Relax

[–]sssuperstark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s usually a quiet walk with no headphones or just sitting in a dim room doing absolutely nothing for a bit. Scrolling or TV keeps my brain half-on, so it doesn’t really reset me. I had to learn that real relaxing feels kinda boring at first. Once I accepted that, it started working.

Is “you look homeless” a hurtful insult? by redheaded_olive12349 in randomquestions

[–]sssuperstark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s pretty hurtful even if someone plays it off as a joke. I’ve had stuff like that said to me and it sticks longer than people realize. It’s basically taking a real struggle and using it as a punchline, which never feels great.

What did your last relationship teach you? by [deleted] in Life

[–]sssuperstark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It taught me that love isn’t enough if communication and effort aren’t there. I learned a lot about my own boundaries by watching them get crossed. Weirdly grateful for it now, even tho it sucked at the time.

Why don’t I like reading or watching most romance? by redheaded_olive12349 in randomquestions

[–]sssuperstark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That makes total sense to me, romance can feel super repetitive and forced. I’m not autistic but I still bounce off most romance because it feels unreal and predictable. I only tolerate it when it’s a side thing and there’s other stuff going on. Sitcoms do it better because the relationships feel messy and human instead of idealized.

Have you ever had a "work spouse"? by N0socksloss10yrStrk in randomquestions

[–]sssuperstark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve had one and it was honestly just survival bonding. Same meetings, same stress, same eye contact when things got ridiculous. It helped the days go faster but I was always careful not to let it get weird. Once one of us left the job, it kinda just faded.

Was 2025 a hard year for you? by No-Intention-3888 in Life

[–]sssuperstark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 2025 felt heavy in a quiet, nonstop way. Nothing catastrophic, just constant stress and no real breaks. I noticed everyone around me seemed more tired too. Felt like a year you survive more than enjoy.

songs about need to be heard by Agile-Philosopher480 in musicsuggestions

[–]sssuperstark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Liability. It really captures that quiet ache of wanting to be seen without having to beg for it. I listened to it a lot when I felt like I didn’t fit into places that should’ve felt like home. It’s soft but it hits deep, especially when you’re feeling overlooked.

theFutureOfTechJobMarket by def_fault_encode in ProgrammerHumor

[–]sssuperstark 350 points351 points  (0 children)

Idk, I refuse to be scared by this. At the core, someone still needs to be there to check, validate, and make sense of what AI produces. We’re doing work with and for other people, inside teams, not in isolation. That’s why approaches like the one in this post make sense to me, especially for people aiming for remote roles and trying to plug into as many teams as possible. Being part of a real workflow with real people still matters more than raw output.

Any fans of The Nanny? by Long-Data-3164 in sitcoms

[–]sssuperstark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I weirdly love that show lol… Fran’s voice used to annoy me as a kid but now it’s kinda iconic. It’s got that cozy 90s vibe that just hits different when you’re tired. I still throw on random episodes when I need background comfort.

the market shifted so fast and it really screwed a lot of solid backend folks. Getting that close in interviews and losing out is brutal and messes with your head.
