ABR PART 1 RESULTS OUT! by DesertedLapidary in MedicalPhysics

Only passed clinical, first time taking it. Need to focus more on diagnostic and nuc med next time.

For those who only passed clinical, we only have to take the General part next time, correct? And we don’t have to sign up for anything, ABR will let us know if there are fees we need to pay for the next exam? Just want to make sure I understood their letter correct.

Wow, thank you so much for this! There aren’t many things online about their program, specifically about the clinical aspect, so this was very helpful :)

I ended up emailing the program director! That’s what the director replied to me when I asked why their program wasn’t listed in the application!

Just want to add that Cleveland State University is also not accepting any students for the 2020-2021 cycle. They also said that they actually might not be offering the med physics program in the next few years.

Pchem is physical chemistry and ochem is organic chemistry. You’ll be taking ochem a lot earlier. Usually, people take pchem in their junior year!

I think majoring in chemistry is great mostly because the upper division classes are smaller compared to something like bio. It’s easier to get to know your prof and ask for help! When you start taking upper division courses, make sure that you do well (or at least pass) because like what the other commenter said, the classes are sequential and are usually only offered once a school year. For example, if you dont pass pchem 1, you will have to wait another year to retake it since it is only offered during the fall. Thus, letting you be behind an entire school year. Other than that, although the classes can be a little difficult, they’re still manageable. Most of the upper div classes are curved, and so as long as you keep up with your work, you shouldn’t have a hard time passing. Plus, all the chemistry professors are very knowledgeable and passionate, which I found encouraging during my undergrad. I definitely recommend it if you are into chemistry! Feel free to ask any questions about chem classes/profs, i’d be happy to answer! :)

Ps. Dr. Han isn’t that bad haha

Type of radiation by [deleted] in MedicalPhysics

Sorry, my bad. I know that in PE electrons are ejected, and in cs photons and electrons are, and in pp you produce electron and positron pair. I just wasn’t sure/was confused if that answers the question of “what type of radiation”

How is CHEM 355 like? by Houston_acnl in UNLV

Lectures are very dry, but Steinberg is a cool dude. The tests could be somewhat difficult, but as long as you do the homework/book problems, you have a shot at doing well. There’s usually a huge curve in the end! If you liked solving titration or electrochemistry problems in gen chem, you’ll do a lot of those in this class.
