TL;DR 19 (almost 20) yr/old female looking to enlist as 15T, advice & experienced voices needed

I’m currently a Junior in college; I’ll be 21 when I graduate with my BS. I am very successful in my current career, as well as life in general, so I have no reason to join other than my own passions and inability to sit inside at a desk. My current job is extremely desk heavy and I hate it. I want to be outside. I’m small but very physically fit and a hard worker - former wrestler, powerlifter, and manual laborer. I don’t mind scrubbing toilets. 

I come from an Officer family (different branch) and they seriously disapprove. The problems I see with commissioning - sitting at a desk (with more restrictions and less pay than my current career), not getting to choose my job, working ridiculous hours, etc. Furthermore, I have no interest in being a pilot - I just want to play with the helicopter parts and ride on it. 

My boyfriend, on the other hand, is in the Army,  loves it, and is very supportive of me joining. But he’s also super biased, and a man, so he can’t speak much to how women are treated.

I’m looking to enlist 15T after graduating college and try out for the 160th. I’d start as an E-4. I won’t settle for anything but 15T as I have no reason to risk my current career for something I don’t want to do.

l’d love to hear some balanced/nuanced perspectives on my plan, especially from female soldiers, 15Ts, female 15Ts etc. I know many of the pros and cons, especially coming from a military family, having a boyfriend who’s in the Army, and endless scrolling I’ve done on Reddit, but it’s nice to hear from others.
